Kinder Cubs Newsletter
Week Thirty: April 26-April 30
Weekly Curriculum
Believe it or not, Wednesday begins our 26 day countdown until the end of the year! We are looking forward to celebrating each day with your children. Please see below for more details.
For ELA, we will revisit short vowel sounds and dive into long vowels. Understanding when and why a vowel is short or long can be tricky, so we encourage you to continue this discussion at home whenever you read with your child. During Math, we will continue our focus on subtraction by decomposing numbers up to ten. We will challenge your children by working on subtraction problems up to twenty. We have so many fun, hands-on activities planned for this concept!
During asynchronous learning times, we will encourage your child to practice previously introduced content using the resources below. We have included these for you as well if you would like to review these concepts with your child. If you have any questions, please let us know!
Last but not least, we want to reinforce our mantra of the power of play. Kindergarten is a time of great academic development. It is also a time when children form and solidify connections with their peers, develop social skills, and strengthen their ability to communicate their observations and thoughts. Play is an integral part of our day, as it nurtures social and emotional development. During this week at home, we encourage the balance of academic development with social and emotional development through play.
ABC Countdown
The end of the school year is quickly approaching! To celebrate an awesome year of Kindergarten, we will celebrate with an ABC countdown. For the last 26 days of Kindergarten, we will review a letter each day with a fun activity.
