Important Safety Protocols for TVUSD Seniors And Families Participating In Graduation Activities
Dear TVUSD Seniors and Families,
As we shared on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, in our follow-up communication about graduation plans, high school administrators reviewed options to allow parents to attend the planned graduation video stage walks. They have coordinated with their site teams to develop plans to safely accommodate a maximum of two (2) parents/guardians/family members to accompany the graduate during the filming of accepting their diplomas on stage.
Each high school will communicate directly with seniors and families the dates, timelines, and logistics for the campus events associated with cap and gown distribution, yearbook distribution, other senior-specific items, and the graduation video stage walks. For all distributions and individual senior appointments, only graduating students will be allowed on campus. The only exception is for the graduation video stage walks. Up to two (2), parents/guardians/family members may accompany the graduate to the filming. Exceptions cannot be made for anyone else other than 1-2 parents/guardians/family members.
In accordance with current state and county health safety and compliance protocols, below are district-wide mandatory guidelines for all senior students and parents/guardians/family members while on campus. For the safety of our staff, students, and families, all persons are asked to comply with staff requests and requirements. We understand these are celebratory events, and we will do our best to provide elements that blend celebration with our required safety protocols. Everyone’s cooperation and understanding of these efforts will ensure all have a positive experience.
Masks/face coverings are required.
All persons must adhere to social distancing and public health guidelines.
All persons must maintain 6 feet distance. No person to person contact other than the student and his or her own 1 to 2 parents/guardians/family members accompanying them.
All persons must be healthy and symptom-free. (Please click here for CDC’s website)
All persons are requested to comply with sanitation efforts provided on the campus.
Campus restrooms will not be available.
All persons are requested to immediately leave the campus following their individual appointment.
As a reminder, the high schools will communicate directly and provide detailed information about their site’s logistics and plans. They will also share guidelines about the videotaping process and any additional restrictions they may need to put in place to ensure the filming process is successful.
I appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding. Our leadership teams are genuinely committed to ensuring that our graduates are celebrated and honored for their achievements and that families have a part in the special moment, while still adhering to current state and county health and safety requirements.
I want to take this opportunity to again recognize our graduating seniors for all that they have already achieved. Our graduates are among the top in county, state, and nation. I am so proud of them, and I am excited about their futures. In light of the current situation, these are not ideal times. The class of 2020 is to be commended for their resiliency and grace.
Congratulations graduates. I look forward to watching all of the graduation productions and celebrating each of you.
With Continued Gratitude and Appreciation,
Tim Ritter
