PTO News
Every year is a new beginning, whether it’s a transition to a new grade, a new school, or a virtual version of school. The PTO welcomes ALL new and returning families to LMS – and we have some great news to share: you are already a member! That’s right, if you have a student at LMS you are already a member of the LMS PTO.
Monthly meetings will begin in September. Until then, please opt-in for PTO communications and volunteer opportunities by sending your email address to our Volunteer Coordinator, Adrienne Scruggs, at scruggsadrienne@yahoo.com

News from the Counseling Department:
Welcome to LMS for the 2020-2021 School Year
We have started the school year with great success. Although it looks a little (or, ALOT) different than in past years, we are so excited to see our students (through Zoom) back in class.
THIS WEEK’S TOP STORIES
SCHEDULE CHANGES: If your student is missing a class or is scheduled into the wrong class, please complete the Schedule Change Request form. Mrs. James and Mrs. Casler are processing changes listed in this form in the order that they are received. Please be patient as we work through enrolling new students, responding to emails and making schedule changes. The last day to request a schedule change will be Thursday, September 3, 2020.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM CODES - Invites from Classroom Teachers: If your student has not received an invitation to join any of his/her classes, send an email directly to the teacher asking for the access code.
HOMEROOM: Students need to check in with homeroom every day. This is where we will be taking attendance each day, and we also have some really fun and engaging activities planned for students to participate in with the homeroom class.

Athletics
As I am sure you all are aware this will be a little different year in the athletic department. All sports have been moved back with the first set of sports starting in December with winter sports. These sports include boys and girls basketball, wrestling, and cheerleading. Fall sports will follow starting in February with cross country for boys and girls, football, and girls tennis and cheerleading. We will then wrap up the school year with spring sports starting in April. These sports include boys' and girls' soccer, boys tennis, and boys' and girls' track.
We are in the process right now going through all of the VHSL and VDOE along with the health department on guidelines to allow kids back on campus to begin conditioning and any other activities that will be allowed at this time. We are currently in Phase 2. There can be no athletic events while the schools are in this phase and practices again are pretty much limited to the fitness aspects of their sport. Guidelines will be established and sent out to you before anyone will be allowed back on campus.
I strongly encourage you to get your physicals now! NO physical from last school year can be used!!! Athletic physicals are only good for the current school year you are participating in. However, you only need ONE physical to be able to participate in sports throughout the year. NO ONE will be able to do anything, conditioning included without a physical on file with me. PLEASE get your physicals done ASAP!
Thank You and we will see your student/athletes hopefully very soon.
I NEED YOUR HELP SPRING SPORTS!!!
Due to the abrupt end to your seasons last year we were unable to collect your jerseys. PLEASE return them to me next Wednesday September 2nd. I will be out in front of the school to collect them from 12:30 till 1:45. Thanks in advance for your help!
