A Message from Principal Boucher
SLPHS Parents,
We are enjoying this homecoming week at the high school. There has been a high level of student participation in our spirit week themes each day. We had pajama day on Monday, college day yesterday and today many students and staff are rocking monochrome outfits! I am looking forward to our pep fest on Friday and a competitive and entertaining game and Panther victory against Cooper High School.
Fall conferences and our fall break are fast approaching:
- Conferences: Like last year we are planning on personalizing our communications to families in October. Below is a link to a parent conferencing and communications preference survey. Staff will utilize the responses on this survey to design their October conferencing and communication from October 18 through October 29. The Parent Conferencing & Communications Form will be open through Monday, October 11. Parents are encouraged to complete the form before next Monday so we can plan and design individualized October conferencing and communications with families. Thank you for taking time to complete this form.
- Fall Break: Our break is October 18-22 and there is no school for students. School resumes Monday, October 25.
Finally, October is College Knowledge month across the country. Our goal during this month is to provide every high school senior with the preparation, opportunity, and support needed to apply to college. This is about more than just submitting a college application (though check out the list institutions that waive application fees during October.) Students at all grade levels can participate in college exploration and planning activities at their own pace. I’d love to see the social media hashtags #MNGoesToCollege #IAppliedMN flooded with our SLPHS students participating in all that is offered.
Thank you as always for your ongoing support and partnership. Together we build bright futures! Go Panthers!
Matthew Boucher
Principal
Optional COVID-19 tests available at school
Students and staff who choose can now pick up a test (saliva test) in their building's health office on any school day. Follow the directions to complete the test at home, then return the test to the health office the following school day. The health office will submit the test for processing. In addition, the Minnesota Department of Health has information on a variety of COVID-19 testing locations. Anyone in the process of being tested for COVID-19 due to potential exposure or symptoms should stay home until all related test results are received. If away from school for testing, communicate with the school's nurse and consult with them before returning to school.
