News to Know...
Hello Stoller families,
Thank you all for a wonderful first week. It is great getting to meet students and many of you.
As we get the school year going, I’d like to remind you of systems in place to ensure safety throughout our school. I know that in the past sometimes families were allowed to “call in” to have a student leave class and wait somewhere near the office area while parents were on the way to pick them up for appointments. We cannot continue to make this accommodation. Once you are here at the school, the office staff will call for your student. Please add 5 – 10 minutes to your plans to ensure you’re able to make your appointment. Thank you for your understanding as we work to ensure the safety of students.

Is your child interested in improving their badminton skills and playing challenging games? What a great way to start the day!

Technology Use During School Hours
Last Reminder...
Just a reminder that Stoller is an “off and away” school. This means students will be allowed to bring their phones to school, however during school hours they are to keep them off and put them away in a safe place. This decreases distractions and ensures that students are fully engaged throughout the day. If students need to call home, they will always have access to a phone in the health room or main office. We appreciate your support with this, as this is an area where sometimes students need clear expectations.
Continuing with the technology topic, here is a link to a great article on screen time and teenagers. We hope you find this article informative and relevant as a parent, especially with technology being present in every part of our lives.
Plan your "Safe Route to School!"
Last Reminder...
As we all know, traffic in and around our school is chaotic at arrival and dismissal times. The roads and school parking lots cannot handle the volume of cars typically dropping off and picking up students. The majority of BSD students are in the walk/bike zone or are offered bus service to their school. PLEASE spend some time before school starts finding a safe walk or bike route to school or your bus stop. Here are the school’s walk zone maps and suggested routes.
Check out BSD's flyer for tips on being a responsible road user, whatever travel mode you choose. Safety is everyone’s responsibility: keep your eyes open, look out for each other and help everyone arrive to school safely. You can help make the route to school safe for everyone.
Art Lit - Calling All Volunteers!
Last Reminder...
Volunteers like YOU make Art Lit at Stoller happen!
Join us for this opportunity to enrich your child’s classroom experience with art history lessons and hands-on art projects. Art backgrounds are not needed, just an interest in spending a day helping the kids tap into their creativity!
We especially need 6th grade parents! Contact Chandra Innes at stollerptoartlit@gmail.com.
