November News
From Kenneth J. Tice Elementary
Principal's Points!
We are thankful for the parents that attended the first Parent Coffee Chat session on Bullying, Friendship, and Helping your Student become a Strong Reader! Our parents walked away with new learning and strategies to apply in the home. In addition, the first grading period ended successfully and we have many students earn Honor Roll Certificates, Citizenship Awards, and Perfect Attendance. We are excited to announce that we had 394 students earn perfect attendance for the first grading period! Thank you for partnering with us to ensure that your child receives a quality education. We look forward to a celebrating Literacy, Math, and Science Night, Veteran's Day, and our annual Family Thanksgiving Lunch with you this month! We would like to wish your family a relaxing and rejuvenating Thanksgiving Holiday.

Character Education Theme
November’s character theme is Fairness. We can show fairness by following the rules or laws, taking turns and sharing, and by listening to others. Treating others with respect is also an important part of showing fairness.
College and Career Spotlight
November is also National Career & College Awareness Month. College Night will be November 9, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Galena Park High School. Students in all grade levels will learn about a variety of careers and college opportunities through guidance lessons and classroom activities.
Service Spotlight
Student Council will continue to collect packaged socks to donate to cancer patients. Student Council will also have a canned food drive from November 11 through December 2.
Safe and Civil Schools Report
Here at Tice we are committed to every child’s safety through the entire instructional day. The dedicated Foundations Team will research topics such as: student arrival and dismissal, student behaviors in the hall, classrooms and cafeteria, attendance, academic engagement, crisis preparedness, practice emergency drills, stranger awareness, and be proactive by inspecting our schools’ surroundings. Our team consists of 10 valued members that will work diligently to make Tice the best and safest it can be. Please enjoy our monthly segment and we encourage community input on any specific topic you feel would be beneficial to the students.
