We’d love to have a BIG crowd of supporters lining the route (map and description below) to cheer the Islanders as the Homecoming Court and class car floats (Enchanted Forest theme) parade through Coronado this Friday, February 19 at 4:30pm. The Homecoming Court (6 boys and 6 girls, voted by their peers) will be in separate cars with their families.
The crowning ceremony for Homecoming King and Queen will take place on the High School field right after the parade. Students and community members won't be allowed to watch the ceremony in person (due to Covid restrictions), but the ceremony will be livestreamed on @coronadoasb 's instagram and filmed professionally to watch later.
Also Coronado ASB has a "TV Special" for the entire community to watch live Friday, February 19, 6pm on the website coronadotv.me . The special will feature videos of the Homecoming Court, a special "hot ones" style video from ASB, and pictures and videos from our Homecoming spirit week and class competitions.
Let’s do as much as we can to show our Islanders how greatly they are loved and bring your students, colleagues, friends and neighbors!
Many thanks and GO ISLANDERS!

HAPPY MINUTE UPDATE AND INFORMATION:
HAPPY MINUTE UPDATE AND INFORMATION:
We are excited that students are able to go back to in person learning!
Don’t forget that we are offering Happy Minute for grades 4th and 5th. (Due to little or no attendance, Happy Minute for 2nd and 3rd grade will be put on hold until future notice.)
Happy Minute is a semi structured peer cyber social weekly event. The kids will engage in socializing activities and just get to know each other in a low stress, monitored environment. We have organized a few games, but will also let the students set the pace and conversation topics.
We are adjusting the Happy Minute schedule to accommodate our Bridge and in-person students at the same time. Therefore, the Happy Minute schedule will be changed to 11:30-12:15 on Tuesdays starting on February 9th! Below is the link 😊

Spring Administration Information for Parents/Guardians
For the 2021 spring administration of the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC), students will be able to take their assigned tests remotely and in person. Our priority is to keep our students and educators safe by following state, county, and local health and safety requirements associated with the current pandemic. Your child might take portions of the assessment remotely even if your student attend class in person.
You will be physically sent home a letter & index card that includes your student’s schedule, SSID number, and individual speaking appointment. Please keep the card in a safe place and destroy it once testing is completed.
BEFORE YOUR STUDENT IS ASSESSED
- If you use a personal device (not CUSD issued), download the secure browser onto the student device: Link to Download Secure Browser
- Confirm your student has the index card included in the letter sent home with them for the day of testing. This card includes your student’s SSID which is a secure number and should not be shared with others.
- Make sure your student is in a QUIET space for testing.
- Confirm your student is on time for the testing session.
To make sure that each student receives the most accurate score, we are providing the following guidelines for student testing:
- You may assist your child with setting up the technology used to enter the test session.
- To keep the test fair for all students, we ask that you do not talk about the questions on the test or any materials for the test with anyone before, during, or after the test.
- No one may record the test, or use a camera or another device to take pictures of the test questions or of your child taking the test. This helps to keep the questions confidential.
- We need to know that the test is being completed by your child without any help. To verify compliance, a web camera and microphone will be used to observe your child while taking the test. The camera is only used to observe your child and the surroundings during the test and will not record the session.
- Please follow all instructions given by the test administrator or examiner to place the camera where your child and the child's immediate surroundings can be observed.
Thank you for making sure your child is ready to test. With your help, we can ensure that your child, as well as all students in California, are provided with the best opportunity to succeed and show what they know.

Village MFLC
MFLC Updates 2.8.2021
Michele and Kim wanted to remind you of the MFLC program as we enter back into in-campus learning and in case you have parents reaching out for support or notice students appearing more nervous or irritable. MFLCs provide free, non-medical, confidential counseling to active-duty military families. At this time, we can provide telephone sessions, video sessions through Zoom, and socially distanced sessions in the park for individuals and families. For all video and in-person contact, a parent or guardian must attend each session.
In addition to individual and family counseling, Michele Alexander and Kimberly Badt are hosting Military Kids Club both virtually through Zoom and socially distanced in the park. This is a great opportunity for students to develop and practice coping skills, learn appropriate emotional expression, use friendship skills, explore topics of deployment/moving/military stressors and more all while doing arts/crafts, reading books, and playing games. Military Kids Club is offered before and after school to accommodate both AM and PM cohorts.
