Moorhead Junior High
April 2020 Newsletter
Hello
Parents and Guardians,
Good evening. As promised our staff is currently placing assignments online for your child at this time. A massive amount of work has gone into this to pivot so quickly and I am hopeful this will help your child in these uncertain times.
I also want to assure you that our staff is grounded in common sense, understand what many families are going through, and are going to be very flexible and understanding through this. Please don't stress over this information and I ask that you relay those assurances to your child. It is going to be okay and we will get through this together.
Our assignments are designed to be approximately 15 minutes per day, per class, but I do acknowledge exact times could vary. There is no set time during the day for when these assignments need to be accomplished. If you have a special situation please email your counselor and we will work through it with no worries. The health and emotional well-being of your family is more important than the completion of any of these assignments.
Many of our staff are publishing videos, hosting live chats, or holding conferences to give extra help to students. We realize you may have limits on time or devices to view these supplemental help tools. We have issued and will continue to issue Chromebooks for our students. Additionally, we will have a limited amount of hotspots available to our students later this week. I will be emailing a Google Doc for hotspot reservations soon.
Please see information below in regards to the picking up and returning of classwork that cannot be done online. We encourage your children to complete as much course work as they can online, but know we have materials for you if that is absolutely needed. If at all possible for sanitary considerations, we would like to limit hardcopies of information going in and out both ways.
Instructional Material Hardcopy Pick Up and Turn In Option:
- Instructional materials are placed outside the front office door each Monday.
These will be the materials you pick up for all instruction. - Materials are available 24/7.
- You may also return any materials in the homework drop off box which is located in front of the school. We prefer that your photograph or scan your child's work and email it to your child's teacher.
- Teacher emails can be found on the Moorhead Webpage. https://moorhead.conroeisd.net/department/directory/faculty-staff/
We understand that this may be a stressful time and appreciate your help in making sure your child continues to learn. Our campus will do our best to make adjustments to this process as the need arises and understand that deadlines for students may need to be extended for individual circumstances. That is no problem. If there are special situations we will work with you and understand. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this new format of teaching and learning.
I hope all this helps. Please let your children know we miss them and hope we can see them as soon as possible. Take care.

A note from Coach Batson
This is a resource for some great board game recommendations for parents. Thought is was neat because they break them into subjects like Math Science and History. I play some of these already with my board game livewire club. The kids love them.
