Physical Properties, Location and Movements of Asteroids
Asteroids are believed to be the largest source of rare earth metals and elements. Other than this, the properties of asteroids just have as much as the surface of our planet earth does. An asteroid is made up of rock and metal, and they are leftovers from the earliest years of the making of the solar system, about 4 billion years ago.
Most asteroids are in the asteroid belt which is just between Mars and Jupiter. Some asteroids are also found in Jupiter's orbit, these are called Trojan asteroids. There are a few near the Earth which are called Apollo asteroids.
Gravity holds the asteroids in orbit. The asteroids move around the sun or the planets, if they are close and heavy they may crash into each other in their path.
