What's Your Reason

The Plymouth Area Substance Use Prevention Collaborative has begun rolling out a social marketing campaign this month called "What's Your Reason". This campaign is designed for youth, by youth, as an effort to change the norm around underage drinking. Sometimes when young people choose not to drink, they feel like they are the only ones... but in reality, youth who choose not to drink are not alone. "What's Your Reason?" is a way for young people to share the reasons they don't drink and arm their peers with tools to decline using substances as well.

Follow @PlymouthCluster on Instagram & Facebook to check out more of the campaign and encourage your students to do the same!

Plymouth 400 Illuminate Celebration

On November 17th Visual and Performing Arts had over 200 students participate in the Plymouth 400 Illuminate Celebration. Our Plymouth UK 'Banner Students' created beautiful illuminated paper lantern sculptures which they marched with in the parade. There were performances by the Plymouth International Alumni Chorus, a Ukulele group from NMES, Spectrum, Northern Lights, South Avenue, and the 'This is Me' group.

A very big thank you to the students and teachers that all worked tremendously hard to make this happen! The VPA is happy and proud to participate in community events such as this! Great work everyone!

STEM in the library

This week, students read the Caldercot award books, “Mirette on the High Wire” and “The Man Who Walked Between the Towers” with Ms. Ashley. They balanced on taped “wire” with their arms tight to their bodies and then stretched out, discussing how each was different. Each group then tried to make the tallest tower out of cups. Students added a layer of paper and evaluated if that made it easier to balance the structure. Great work!
