February 2021: Hybrid Learning
Our Kids are Coming Back!
We are SO HAPPY that we will soon have many of our students back on the MGP campus! There is an excited buzz around the building that was missing for so many months! Thank you for all of your support and patience in all of the transitions this school year. Our students and parents have been AMAZING with the uncertainties and challenges.
We know that February will be like the beginning of a school year, in many ways. Our students will be learning new expectations, meeting new students, and meeting new staff members. Please know that building a safe, inclusive classroom culture will take precedence as students move into hybrid learning. We know that relationships are the foundation for learning.
If your child's teacher or section (A/B) will change next week, you have already received communication from our administration team, either over the phone, in a detailed voicemail, or in a detailed email. If you did not hear from us this week, you can assume that your child will remain with the same teacher in the same section.
We are pleased that we will be able to offer at least one remote class at each grade level, for those families who wish to remain learning in that model. Please note that remote learners will also be on the same schedule as hybrid learners. 10:10 AM-3:10 PM. A Group will Zoom on Mondays and Tuesdays, B Group will Zoom on Thursdays and Fridays.
Thank you for your flexibility and support during this ever-changing school year!
Daily Attestation
It is important that parents use the Qualtrics app to attest to their child's health every day so that schools can get class started on time. Each day of in-person learning, primary families will receive a 5 a.m. email from Battle Ground Public Schools (noreply@qemailserver.com) asking a parent/guardian to attest online to their primary student's health. The software offers families the option to receive the daily message in a text format as well. Step-by-step instructions on how to do the attestation are online and attached below.
Click HERE to sign up for Qualtrics.
Once students arrive at school, they will go to a designated area (usually a gym) where they will line up on physically distanced markers and confirm their attestation has been completed and get their temperature checked before entering the building. **Please note that if a student's attestation has not been completed, the school will need to call home for parent verification.
Per state Department of Health requirements and CDC guidelines, all students, staff, and building visitors must attest to their health upon entering any school building. The district will use the Qualtrics application for attestation. Families can access the app from a computer or cell phone. Guardians will get an email or text message reminder to attest to their child’s health. A description of how attestation will work is on the district website.
It is important that parents use the app to attest to their child's health every day. This will help us be most efficient at quickly getting hybrid school started each day.
If your child displays any symptoms of COVID-19 once in-person learning begins, please contact your child's healthcare provider, report the symptom(s) to and follow up with your school nurse or principal and refer to the COVID-19 Student Screening Flow Chart.
**If your student arrives LATE (after 10:10 AM), please call the main office once you're in our parking lot. We will have staff come out to meet you, take child through attestation, and get them to class.
What do I do if my child has COVID-19 like symptoms?
Contact your healthcare provider.
Report the symptom(s) to and follow up with your school nurse or principal.

Expectations
Transportation and Parent Drop Off
Cascade Student Transportation is working on bus routes. Routes, including student pick up and drop off times, will be available soon on the Traversa Ride 360 online tool. Instructions and a link to the tool is on the Bus Routes webpage.
Schools will provide protocols for student drop off and pick up by parents/guardians. Please note that for everyone's health and safety, parents will not be permitted to escort children to their classroom.
If you will be driving your child to school, please review the MG parking lot map below. It was re-designed last summer. Parents MUST use the parking lot closest to River Home Link for drop off and pick up.
Please be sure you communicate with your child's teacher if you will be transporting your student to and from school.
Meals
Grab and Go Meals
Effective Feb. 1 with the start of hybrid learning for K-4 students, grab and go meal pickup will no longer be available on Wednesdays. This is necessary to allow for the thorough cleaning of school campus facilities in between attendance days for Groups A and B students. Note that families can pick up an extra meal on Tuesdays to take home for Wednesdays.
Nutritious sack lunches are available for free to any child age 0-18. Meals can be picked up from 11 a.m. to noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at all district primary school locations, as well as the Amboy Middle School campus.
Meals can also be picked up from 11 a.m. to noon and from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. at Battle Ground and Prairie High Schools on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. As with the primary school locations, families can pick up extra meals on Tuesdays to take home for Wednesdays.
