Woods Weekly
Week of February 8th-12th
Classroom Happenings
Dear Parents/Guardians,
A big thank you to all who ordered from our January Book Order! Our order arrived earlier this week, and we were able to get 7 free books for our classroom library! Plus, every student received a copy of I Survived True Stories: Extreme Weather. Woohoo!! As soon as I get the February book order catalogs, I will send them home because each student has a coupon for 1 free book (up to $5 in value) with a purchase of ten dollars or more. How awesome is that?!?!
Valentine's Day
A letter came home yesterday (Thursday, February 4th) letting you know that students decorated their Valentine's Day bags and are able to bring in Valentine's Day cards/treats. Bringing in cards/treats is not required; however, if students decide to bring something in, there must be enough for everyone. All treats must be packaged and cannot contain nuts. Please view the letter that came home yesterday for a list of student names.
Reminders
Student Council: Cookies and Coffee for Soldiers
Our Student Council is collecting 1 pound bags of ground coffee and packaged cookies for our soldiers through March 18th. If you are willing and able to donate any of these items, please place them on the table by the cafeteria. All donations will be boxed up and sent by The Military Support Group in Indianapolis. Thank you for helping us send the troops a little taste of home!
Spring Music Program:
Central's spring music program will be taking place on April 12th at 7pm. Mr. Meyer will be sending a letter home soon.
Accelerated Reader:
Just like last grading period, Accelerated Reader will count as two reading grades. One grade will be for reading comprehension accuracy; the goal is for students to earn at least 85% accuracy. The other grade will be based on whether your child achieves his/her reading goal. All students have gotten their new goal for the grading period. It can be found in the front cover of their assignment notebook. Please take a look.

Spelling
Students will be tested over all 10 Core Words. Then, I will choose 10 of the Test Words to give them on Friday. For the last word, students have to write the sentence that I say using the spelling word. I take a writing score for their sentence based on spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
