School News
Dr. Henry's Visit: Dr. Henry came to visit on Wednesday and was clearly impressed with the teaching and learning going on in our building. He commented on how quiet everyone was working around the building. My favorite comment he made was that when you enter a building right away you can feel if it is a great place for kids or not. "I can tell that Rennell is great place for kids, Meredith" WOW! That was awesome to hear! YOU EACH contribute to the way our school feels. Thank you for investing in ensuring that we put KIDS FIRST and leave a LEGACY - it shows to those who visit including our very own superintendent. Proud principal!!! :)

Strategy Spotlight
I saw this strategy in Tara Myers' classroom on the first day of school! To really help students process through our school matrices - and to get them thinking at high levels, Tara gave table groups of students one copy of a matrix, chart paper, and a marker. She asked students to look at the matrix and describe what following the matrix in that area looks like and sounds like by creating a T-chart. Students were highly engaged as they described SOARing behaviors in their own words on their charts. I didn't see how the lesson ended, but I can envision students sharing with each other - reinforcing the rules for each other. I can think of so many other content areas that this same strategy can be used for! I'm sure you can, too! Thanks for sharing the great strategy, Tara!
