Welcome Cristina Ibarra!
Dealey Montessori and International Academy
¡Bienvenida, Cristina Ibarra!
Dear Dealey Community,
It is with great excitement that I am able to announce that I have recently been appointed to serve as the next principal of George Bannerman Dealey Montessori and International Academy! Dealey has a long history of academic excellence, a dedicated staff, and engaged families who work together to provide our students with an outstanding education through the Montessori philosophy. As your new principal, I feel very fortunate to lead and share my experience and love for Montessori for many years to come.
Over the past 16 years, I have served Dallas ISD in a variety of capacities. I began as a teacher assistant at Sam Houston Elementary before joining the Dealey Montessori family as a Primary and Lower Elementary teacher where I earned my Montessori credentials. After completing my master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy, I served as an assistant principal at Rosemont and Prestonwood Montessori. Over the years, each of these unique experiences has helped me grow and prepare to become a Dealey Dragon once again.
I believe that every child is capable of growing academically and emotionally. Our role as educators is to help equip our students with the tools to make them successful both inside and outside of the classroom. I’m very passionate about peace education and the social emotional well being of our students and staff. I believe in making sure that everyone has a voice and that we listen to each other so we always make thoughtful decisions on behalf of our students.
As we embark on this journey together, I will begin by investing my time observing, listening, and learning from the students, staff, and families at Dealey so that we begin to build trust and create meaningful relationships. Dealey is one of a kind, and we will continue to set the bar for Montessori education in the public sector. Together we will work towards a vision that exceeds expectations for our students.
With your support, the legacy of success established by Dealey Montessori will continue and strengthen. Thank you for the opportunity to return to this community as your principal. I am excited about the journey we will forge together and look forward to many milestones of success as we build a culture of joy and trust.

About Cristina Ibarra - Sobre Cristina Ibarra
Born and raised in Oak Cliff, Cristina Ibarra is a proud product of Dallas ISD. She attended L.K. Hall, Greiner Middle School, and graduated from Sunset High School. She enrolled in Cedar Valley Community College before moving to UT Arlington where she worked as a teacher assistant while completing her bachelor’s degree.
Mrs. Ibarra’s teaching career began at Dealey Montessori as a primary (PK-K) and lower elementary (1-3) teacher where she completed her Montessori training and served a total of seven years. After completing her Masters degree in educational leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington, she took the leap into school administration, serving six years as the assistant principal at Rosemont Schools.
Most recently, Cristina Ibarra helped launch the newest Montessori school for Dallas ISD, Prestonwood Montessori at E.D. Walker. As the founding assistant principal, Mrs. Ibarra fostered a welcoming and nurturing Montessori environment where students and staff thrived. Through purposeful creativity and unwavering patience, she was able to develop a culture of joy and enrich partnerships across the community.
Montessori is very special to the entire Ibarra family. Her husband of 20 years, Rafael, is an upper elementary (4-6) Montessori teacher at Mata Montessori and her 4 year old son, Leo, has blossomed while attending Prestonwood this past year. The Ibarra’s also added a special addition to the family this year. Baby Olivia at 3 months old is learning to roll over and loves playing with her big brother. They look forward to Olivia becoming the family’s newest Montessori learner in the near future!
