Landform Regions of Canada
How were they formed?
The Challenge!
In your group of three you will select one of the Landform Regions of Canada (see the map below). Each group member will focus on one of the following: Geologic, Hydrologic, and Climatic formation. Together you will create the introductory description. Using your own device, the textbook, or any other source - you will research your landform region and present your information in a Smore just like this one!
Describe your Landform Region
What would someone see if they travelled to your Landform Region in the summer? How about in the winter? Don't forget to add some pictures with your description.
How was your Landform Region formed?
Describe the Geologic forces that formed your landform region (think about the rocks)
Was it the force of colliding plates, or maybe the result of years of settling sediment in an inland sea? Describe how your landform region was created. What geologic forces contributed to it's formation? When did it happen? How did happen? If we were there when it happened, what would it have been like?
Describe the Hydrologic forces that formed your landform region (think water and ice)
How did water and ice help help your landform region? What are the major river systems in your region and how did they shape the landscape? What was the impact of the last glacial period on the landscape? What remains to this day (lakes, rivers, etc.)?
How does climate shape the landform region today?
How does the climate of your region contribute to the shaping of your landform region? How does the climate determine the vegetation, the animals, or even what human activities exist in the region? How do seasons affect your landform region?
Bring it all together!
Be creative, use visuals, and don't over-do the text!
