Murphy Choir Mamas

Mrs. Amber Jean Evans

Mrs. Evans has taught choir in Plano ISD since 2007. Mrs. Evans worked as Associate Choir Director at Robinson Middle School with Mrs. Kimberley Ahrens for five years and has served as Head Choir Director at Murphy Middle School since 2012. She has a Bachelor of Music Degree from Millikin University in Decatur, IL where she was the Millikin Young Artist for Cello and a concerto contest winner for Voice. Mrs. Evans team-teaches the Murphy MS Beginning Choir with Ms. Melanie Altman. She is the primary teacher for the Harmaniacs mixed pop ensemble, the Concert Women's Choir, and the A Cappella Men's and Women's Choirs.

Ms. Melanie Altman

Ms. Altman has completed her seventh year of teaching, all of which have been at Murphy! Born in Washington, DC, Ms. Altman also spent part of her life in New Orleans, where she joined choir in sixth grade and began studying private voice. Upon graduation from high school in Texas, she attended Sam Houston State University (Go Bearkats!) and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education. Aside from teaching choir and laughing with her students every day, Ms. Altman sings soprano two with the Plano Civic Chorus and enjoys performing as a chorister multiple times throughout the year. Ms. Altman loves to spend time outside of school cheering on her favorite football teams with her family, her two fluffy cats, and her friends. Her favorite parts of her job as an MMS Choir director are getting to know her students, being goofy with Ms. Evans, and stretching before singing! :)
