An Ethic of Excellence
Thank you for maintaining a testing environment in our building for two weeks straight. Thank you for being flexible and understanding when the best thought out plans haven't all gone our way! Thank you for going the extra mile to serve our students and our families and each other!
Last week I issued you each a challenge. I challenged you to to hold yourselves and each other accountable to being the professionals that we are called to be and to set the example that our students deserve to see. I challenged you to walk away from idle gossip and to hold your colleagues accountable for what they say and do! For some of you, my message last week was perplexing, and for that I am grateful! For some, I hope that the message was clear that Ebinport is not a place where we will allow anyone to tear down our walls or break down morale! This week, I want you to ask yourself, "Have I contributed to or been part of a conversation that has been less than professional?" "Have I walked away from idle gossip or asked my colleagues to refrain from spreading rumors?" If you haven't walked away or stopped gossip from happening/spreading then the time is NOW! For those that uphold the Ebinport "way" THANK YOU! Thank you for helping build on to the legacy that is EBINPORT!! One school, one story, one voice AN ETHIC OF EXCELLENCE!

Rock Hill School Education Foundation Student of Excellence Celebration
A Letter from Kelly Sebastian
Hi Mrs. Kelsey.
My father has now progressed to hospice care, and I’m spending
a lot of time in Shelby. During your next staff meeting please express my regret
to everyone that I could not offer garden lessons to the students this spring. It
leaves a huge hole in my heart to not be there with them, so please have
the teachers tell their students that Mrs. Sebastian misses them.
I pray that you all have a good end of the year. Please enjoy every moment with
that precious new little boy of yours! They grow up way too fast...my son is now
5’8” and finishing 7th grade. Children are such a precious gift to us!

Classroom Moves
Things to Remember:
-Everything must come out of cabinets, drawers, etc. and should be boxed.
-Vertical file cabinets can be moved full.
-Plastic drawer systems can be moved if they will withstand the move. Drawers should be taped closed.
-Everything that is to be moved should have a label on it with a location!
-Items larger than a shoe box should be labeled with room location.
-Items smaller than a shoe box should be boxed and the box should be labeled.
-There are separate boxes for books, magazines etc. These are heavier cardboard.
-The moving company will provide us tape.
-Labels should be on the side of boxes.
-Chair and furniture tags will be provided and should be placed on office chairs, soft chairs, etc.
-Sofas, recliners, etc. will not be moved be the moving company.
-Valuables or items with sentimental value should be taken home, the movers won't guarantee their safe movement.
-Roll up rugs and label for them to be moved.
-Take home plants
-The moving company will provide discard labels and will throw away unwanted items for us.
-We will have a different colored label for those moving into rooms not yet built. These items will be stored in the cafeteria and boxes should be labeled with the room number provided in the meeting.
-If your furniture is staying in the room (because of grade level change, etc) don't label it, otherwise every piece of furniture to be moved should be labeled.
The front office will have furniture it will no longer need. We will put a sticky note on items "up for grabs." If you wish to be considered for an item, please put your name on the sticky note. If more than one person is interested in a piece of furniture, we will have a lottery.

8th Annual Partnership Conference for Education Renewal Each year Winthrop University-School Partnership Network faculty, teachers, administrators, and teacher candidates gather to share their expertise and best practice at the Partnership Conference for Educational Renewal. With the wealth of knowledge that exists in our "own backyard," the conference offers a time to disseminate successful strategies, discuss challenging contexts, and engage in collaborative problem solving. Growing from less than a hundred participants at the first conference to close to three hundred last year, this event highlights our shared commitment to student learning and professional growth. Main conference occurs on Tuesday, June 6 with pre-conference workshops on Monday, June 5.
.
Upon completing your registration, you will be redirected to “SCHED,” our conference website. You will also receive two emails, a confirmation from Eventbrite with your tickets to the event (no need to keep) as well as an email from SCHED, allowing you to visit the site at a future date. If you do not already have an account with SCHED, it will provide you with a username and instruct you to create a password. However, if you do have a preexisting account, the site will simply direct you to log in.
SCHED allows you to view the conference schedule, reserve your place in sessions, receive email updates, and access handouts/presentations (available by June 3rd). You also have the option to complete a profile and connect with other conference attendees. If you would like to know more about building your schedule and connecting with others, use this short video guide -https://8thannualpartnershipconfere2017.sched.com/help

. Registration ends MAY 26 and is limited by room capacity in concurrent sessions.
Tickets are not needed at check-in; however, it is essential that all participants register and continue to the SCHED site to “build your schedule,” since this will be used to provide presenters with information required to prepare handouts, materials, etc.
Looking forward to seeing you in June!

ESOL Summer PD Opportunities
Science Summer PD
Science Grades K-5
This summer, elementary teachers will look at the vertical alignment of science standards, science benchmark data, and teachers of grades 3-5 will learn how to make better use of the Discovery Education/Canvas integration. Teachers of grades K-2 will learn how to use Pearson Realize resources. We will meet June 26 and 27 from 8:30-3:30pm at Rawlinson Road Middle School. (These dates are a change from the dates listed in the PD offerings sent a few weeks ago, so as to avoid conflicting with dates for other PD.) Please sign up in My Learning Plan.
Science Grades 6-8
The focus of this summer's work will be to define and differentiate our Grade-Level and Advanced MS Science coursework. We will begin looking at this on May 4, 2017 during our MS Unit Planning session at Sullivan MS. We will continue this work on June 12 and 13 from 8:30-3:30pm at Rawlinson Road Middle School. A group of teachers representing each grade-level is imperative to make our work useful for everyone involved. Please sign up in My Learning Plan.
High School Science
The focus of this summer's work will be to define and differentiate the College Preparatory and Honors coursework for our high school students. We plan to work June 19 and 20 from 8:30-3:30pm at Rawlinson Road Middle School. Teachers representing each course are needed in order for this work to be feasible for each course. Please sign up in My Learning Plan.
