Ridgeview STEM Junior High School

October 2, 2020

From the Principal

Tiger Families,

Because we have received many phone calls, I wanted to give some clarifications:

If Ridgeview receives notification of a probable or confirmed COVID-19 case, we will:

1. Send out a school wide GENERAL email.

  • If this is the only email you receive, your child should continue attending school.

2. Send a second notification if your student was in a classroom setting with the

individual. **This does not mean your student was in close contact.** Your child should continue attending school unless a follow up phone call is received. (See below)

3. Call students who are deemed in "close contact" to give further instructions.

I hope this clears up any confusion. We appreciate your patience and support!

Beth Richardson

PANORAMA Survey for Social & Emotional Learning

Pickerington Local School District utilizes the Panorama student survey to measure and track our students’ attitudes, beliefs, and skills in key social-emotional competencies including instructional effectiveness, student engagement, self-awareness, self-management, self-efficacy, grit and growth mindset. This helps us to ensure that our approach to staff learning and supporting our students’ academic, social, and emotional learning is on track.

For the 2020-21 school year, the survey is being administered to students in grades 3-12 across the District. The first administration (pre-survey) will be between Oct. 12th and Nov. 6th. Another survey (post-survey) will be given in the spring. Students complete the ~20-minute online survey using any device with access to the internet. Each student completes the survey one time within the fall administration window and one time within the spring administration window.

For more detailed information and links, please view the attached parent letter and opt-out form. We hope that all students will participate, however, if you would like your student to opt-out, please complete the form and return it by Oct. 9th.

Ski & Snowboard Club Announcement

2020-2021 Pickerington Schools Ski & Snowboard Club cancellation announcement:

Like much that has to do with the global pandemic, COVID has forced us to skip this year’s Ski & Snowboarding Club. There are multiple concerns about being able to adequately follow safety procedures. We are sad to report this out, but hope you all travel with your families to get some time on your skis and boards!

We will do our best to get the club up and going for the 2022 season!

Please Check Your Student's Attendance on Virtual Days

Student participation on virtual days is a mandatory expectation for all students. Classroom work is posted on Google Classroom by your student’s teachers. Student participation in classroom work is tied to student attendance.

We believe the majority of log in issues with Infinite Campus have now been resolved. Students must log into Infinite Campus for their attendance and Google Classroom daily. They can login to Infinite Campus once and do their attendance for the entire day so they do not need to login multiple times. If your student is unsure of how to post his/or attendance on virtual days, please watch this "how to" video: Virtual Attendance Video.

If they cannot login to Infinite Campus, please reach out to their school counselor, Kris Owen (kris_owen@plsd.us) - 7th grade and Courtney Smooth (Courtney_Smoot@plsd.us) - 8th grade.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

September 15th through October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month. In 1968 Hispanic Heritage Week was signed into law under Lyndon B. Johnson. 20 years later, the week was expanded to encompass an entire month. Sept 15th is significant because it marks the beginning of the dates of Independence for many countries in the Americas. During National Hispanic Heritage Month, Ridgeview will highlight the contributions of Hispanics and Latinos as well as trivia!

Parent Communication Page-Weekly Classroom Information

In an effort to reduce the amount of emails that you are getting from the school, we have created a Classroom Information page off of the Ridgeview website. Every week by 8:40 am, the teachers will have their lesson plans for that week posted. This way, families have all the information in one location (you just need to know which team/teachers your student has). We suggest bookmarking this page so that you can easily access it. This is a work in progress so please be patient as we make sure we have the correct documents linked.

Please check this page to find weekly classroom lesson updates.
