Here's to New Beginnings!

New Contest for Teachers Courtesy of Limitless Libraries!

Dear Faculty,

I want to let you know about the contest Limitless Libraries has for teachers this month. It’s so easy to enter, and you could win an iPad Mini! All you need to do is follow these simple steps:

  1. Access one of the databases on the Limitless Libraries website (www.limitlesslibraries.org/research-tools).

  2. Complete this short form detailing which database you visited.

The contest will from from January 6 until January 29. There is no limit to the number of times you can enter. One winner will be drawn from each school tier (middle and high).

All of the databases on the Limitless website are designed for middle and high school students; you just might find something you want to include in your lessons!

Middle and high school students are also eligible. There will be a $50 Visa gift card winner at every middle school, and a $100 Visa gift card winner at every high school. Encourage your students to participate in this! These databases could really help with science fair research.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Hopefully someone from our school will win!

Friendly Reminder to ELA Teachers

By now, I hope you have shown the Battle of the Books screencast. All of the rules and directions are included there. It is only 5 minutes long. If you have not shown it, please do so ASAP.

Here it is: Battle of the Books

Another Contest Via Limitless Libraries - FOOD FOR FINES

Food for Fines will take place January 9-17. Students and teachers can donate canned goods & other foods to waive library overdue fines and help Second Harvest Food Bank. I will have more information about this in a few days. In the past, for every can of food donated $1 is erased from a student's PUBLIC (not Head) library fines. This is a wonderful, easy way to wipe out some hefty fines. I will send you a list of those students with public library fines once I receive it.
