Principal's Message

Last week was a great week having students back in the building. It is always amazing how well students get right back into the swing of things after a break.

As mentioned last week, the end of the first semester is on January 27th. This means grades will be final (keep checking Skyward and Google Classroom) and schedules will change.

Along these lines, you should be able to find your son/daughter's schedule on Skyward. Take a look and if you have any concerns, schedule change request forms will be available at the front desk by Ms. Reiser right now through the end of the semester. Students must have parental consent to receive a schedule change

One last important note. Last week we advertised the start of season 3 sports to be starting on January 11th. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we need to move this back one day. So, our season three sports will begin on January 12th.

Important Update to Season 3 Sports

- Season 3 Sports - Boys Basketball/ and Girls Soccer will now start on Wednesday Jan 12 after school. Practices will go from 245-430. Please check with coaches to make sure of pick up times.

- Boys Basketball -

WIAA/ DOH Have released the following change in Covid Testing Guidelines - (12/20/2021)

- In response to recent sports-related outbreaks, the testing requirements for high-risk sporting activities has been updated to require screening testing of all athletes, coaches, trainers and supporting personnel regardless of vaccination status. Further, the testing frequency has increased to 3 times weekly. Among those screening tests, at least one must occur no sooner than the day before the competition; ideally and whenever possible, the day of the event.

If you have any questions regarding these changes please contact our Athletic Director Leah Sandlian @ lsandlian@fifeschools.com

  • Power Packs are bags of snacks and easy-cook items that we can send home with your student on Friday afternoons. Each week the bags are a little different, but typically include a can of soup, a cup of noodles, granola bars, cereal, fruit sauce or snacks, and nuts or trail mix.
  • Area Food Banks offering ongoing food support:
  1. https://co.pierce.wa.us/454/Food-Banks

Mr. Naiker (rhymes with hiker) is Team Adams’ Connections teacher. He hopes to be the concierge for communication between students, teachers and families. This will be Mr. Naiker’s 7th year teaching, third year at SLMS and second year as Team Adams Connections teacher. When Mr. Naiker is not at SLMS, he is at home with his three daughters and son watching Peppa Pig, making movies about princess knights, holding his breath while they perform some sort of American Ninja Warrior stunt and sneaking chocolate treats from the pantry.

Mrs. Boyd is the amazing 7th grade science teacher for Team Adams! This is her 10th year at SLMS. She is also the volleyball coach. She keeps a fortune from a fortune cookie taped to her computer at all times that says, “An airplane ride is soon in your future sending you to fun”! Let’s all take a ride to fun together this year!!
