Running of the Vikings takes place tonight at 7:10 pm, right after Trick-or-Treat, so head to the North end zone to get lined up. Please remember that weapon props are not permitted, and students over 10 years old may not wear a mask.

Pumpkin Character Gallery Walk is Tuesday, October 31st

The Pumpkin Character Gallery Walk is Tuesday, so students will need to bring their decorated pumpkin and book to school on or before Tuesday. Pumpkins and books will be placed on display in the hallways for grade levels to walk through and see all of the creative work!

Here is the schedule for the Gallery Walk:

  • 8:30-9:00: PPCD, PK, and Kindergarten
  • 9:15-9:45: 1st Grade
  • 10:00-10:30: 2nd Grade
  • 10:45-11:15: 3rd Grade

A few pumpkins have already started coming in and they look fantastic! We can't wait to see how cute the pumpkins turned out.

Halloween Reminder

We have 3 designated "party" days...Winter (December 15th), Valentine's Day (February 14th), and the last day of school (May 25th). Halloween is not a designated party day, so in order to keep our students with allergies safe, please do not send in treats on Tuesday. We also ask that students keep Halloween costumes at home and not wear them to school.

Perfect Attendance and Honor Roll Recognition

We will recognize Perfect Attendance and Honor Roll receipients on Wednesday, November 1st during lunches. Students earn perfect attendance by being present every day from 7:45 am to 3:00 pm (without being tardy) and staying at school all day.

From the LVES Student Handbook, page 71:

"Students who leave early will not be eligible for recognition for perfect attendance, unless a doctor’s note is provided excusing the early dismissal from school."

If you have any questions, please contact Veronica Fidencio at

Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade will be recognized for Perfect Attendance. Third grade students will be recognized for Honor Roll.

Cooler Weather is Finally Here!

In true Central Texas Fall weather, our mornings are cold and afternoons are warm, so please make sure to put your child's name on his/her jacket. The Lost and Found is starting to pile up and cooler weather is just beginning!

Back Door Closes at 7:45 am

The back door where students enter in the morning off Travis Drive closes and locks when the tardy bell rings at 7:45 am. Please do not drop your child off at that location after 7:45 am, as staff will not be out there to let your child in the building. If you arrive after 7:45, you will need to drive to the front of the school and walk your child into the front office. Thank you for you help!

Counselor's Corner

Hello LVES Families! This has been a fun month of learning about Respect, and ending the month with Red Ribbon Week and helping the kids understand what self-respect is and making good choices has been especially rewarding. The Red Ribbon Week activities are meant to be fun reminders for the kids to do these things, and at the young elementary level we mainly focus on understanding that there is a difference between good and bad drugs, making good choices, and doing your best to live a healthy, drug-free life. Our staff really appreciates you supporting our efforts in teaching our students the importance of having good character, doing the right thing, and showing respect to themselves and others!

Perhaps the surest test of an individual's integrity is his refusal to do or say anything that would damage his self-respect.” ~Thomas S. Monson
