Description
Participants will build a solid understanding of the vertical alignment of algebra standards from elementary through middle school. Participants are expected to attend a minimum of 100 hours of professional development, mentor at least 3 teachers, and agree to submit their Spring 2017 STAAR data.
Audience: Grades 4-8 Math Teachers

Stipend: Yes. Teachers may earn a $1,000 stipend.

Curriculum writers will learn more about the Understanding By Design framework used in Sheldon ISD and design activities, lesson, and assessments for the 2016-2017 school year for a specific grade level.

2016-2017 ConocoPhillips Rice University Applied Math Program (AMP!) for Algebra I/Biology Participant
Description
AMP! participants will receive a year of professional development (approximately 85 hours) targeting algebra I and biology teachers. AMP! has the goal of improving crosscutting content knowledge, enhancing instructional practices, assessing effective student learning experiences, and leadership development. Participants will receive a minimum of 6 GT credit hours, integrated technology, professional texts, a variety of algebra I and biology materials, and a stipend.

Investigating Geometry and Measurement in the Secondary Mathematics Curriculum
Description
This course is designed to support middle and high school mathematics teachers as they develop students’ understanding of the important geometric and measurement concepts from those grades. Concepts are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
