K-Kids Meeting Update

3/15/16

New Elections

Congrats to all the students who gave a speech and ran for office. It is very nerve wracking to get up in front of your peers and give a speech. Kuddos to those who gave it a go and a job well done to the officers who are handing over their positions to a new crew.

The new officers are:

President: Alicia

Vice President: Megan

Secretary: Alexander

Treasurer: Carson

Sargent of Arms: Brandon

Congrats to the new officers! We know you will do such a great job in your roles!!

Adding Another Meeting Date

Mrs. Kinney and I would like to add another meeting date since we had a March meeting cancelled and we have only one meeting in April due to spring break.

We are adding another meeting date on Tuesday, March 29th which is 2 weeks from yesterday's meeting.

We completely understand if your child cannot make it since it was not originally on the schedule.

Smencil Sales at Fun Night on 3/18

I'm looking for K-Kid volunteers to help sell Smencils at the MS Fun Night this Friday. So far, I have 4 volunteers for the 5th/6th grade session and 2 volunteers for the 7th/8th grade session. It would be great to get at least one more volunteer for the 7th/8th grade session. At yesterday's meeting, a lot of students indicated that they wanted to do it; however, I told them that they needed you to contact me so I know you approve.

Parents do not need to stay...just drop off and pick up. I will be there the whole time to supervise. I will email you with times for each session.

K-Kids March Fundraiser for KAH

Our next fundraiser will be a coin competition during the week of 3/28-4/1. Details about the competition will go to all Klager families next Monday. Every morning, each classroom will have a jar in the lobby. After announcements, students will be invited to drop money in the jars. Pennies and dollar bills (a heavily debated topic at yesterday's meeting) will be positive points and silver coins will count as negative points.

K-kids students will work in shifts to help supervise the jars during the money drop off period (about 10 minutes after announcements which will be about 8:20-8:30ish). Kiwanis members are going to come and count the money daily. The jars will be updated every morning so students know where each classroom stands.

The winning classroom will get a "Big Joe" bean bag chair for their classroom.

Jared Boxes

Don't these boxes look great!! Students did such a great job on them! I love to read their letters of encouragement too...very thoughtful and genuine!

About 1/2 the boxes are ready to go and the other 1/2 still need items (including a child from my household... ; ). If you intend to pick up items for these boxes, please try to get them in as soon as possible.

Leader in Me Assembly - K-Kids Invited to Present

As you all know, we are a Leader in Me school. The grant that has helped fund this amazing opportunity for our students, asks us to have a community wide Leader in Me assembly. The Leader in Me committee approached me and asked if K-Kids were interested in presenting in the assembly since our K-Kids are showing Klager that they are a great bunch of leaders!

Community members are invited to the assembly which is on Wednesday 3/23 from 9-10:30. K-Kids will be presenting for about 10 min. We asked students again if they would like a speaking part. We will have all K-Kids students in front with students who volunteered to have speaking parts...very much like the induction ceremony. Again, there will be a picture slide show (about one song) showcasing all of their great work and it will include updated pictures too. We do ask that students wear their K-Kids t-shirts. We checked with kids who still need t-shirts and Cindy is going to work on trying to get them before the assembly.

Well...I think that's it for now which was plenty! Have a great week! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you for sharing your fantastic children with us,

Your K-Kids Team
