Book Madness -- a bracket involving books instead of a basketball

For the next six weeks we are excited to bring march madness and the love of books together. Each week we will have guest readers share a bit of their own life story and then read a book aloud. Student voting will move books through the bracket. We're starting with 16 "sweet" books. Which one will be the ultimate champion book of the Year? Ask your students about who read to them on Thursday afternoon.

The Penn Scholastic book fair will be coming up at the end of this month. We will start collecting change next week to support the All for Books program. Children are encouraged to bring in spare change to place in their classroom’s cup, which will be located in the library. The classroom that collects the most change will get to take their money and choose books for their classroom. The rest of the money will be used to purchase books for the library. In addition, Scholastic will match whatever we raise to give to an impoverished school to help them purchase books. Thank you for your support!

Planning for 2019-2020

Dear Elementary Families,

The District has developed a comprehensive parent guide for elementary families for the 2019-20 school year. The Elementary Roadmap contains information on the upcoming attendance area changes, as well as a timeline of key dates for things such as Kindergarten Registration, BASP enrollment deadlines, transportation deadlines, and eRegistration.

Please note, for families who are impacted by the 2019-20 attendance area changes, there will be transition opportunities available. Some of these include meeting the new principal, as well as, an open house at each school.

The Elementary Roadmap will be coming home in your child’s Friday Folder in January; however, it is also linked here for your reference. We encourage you to review it, taking note of the information and key dates that impact your family.

Please contact the Educational Services Center at (319) 688-1000 if you have any questions.

The newest info about 2019-20 Elementary Attendance Areas

The district recently sent an email to families who will be directly impacted by boundary changes for next school year. These letters were based on the address on file for your student(s) in PowerSchool. Please make sure you read that! AND make sure your PowerSchool information is correct, so that you are getting accurate information.

Please visit the links below, which provide access to the 2019-20 District attendance area maps and the District’s Attendance Area Look-Up, which provides school information specific for your home address.
