Erpenbeck Enquirer
2/17
From Your Principal, Mrs. Pass
1) What was the pit of your day? (The kids tell me something that made them frustrated, made them sad, hurt their feelings, etc.) Then, I follow up with - how did you overcome that? What strategies did you use? What could you do next time?
2) What was the peak of your day? (The kids will tell me the high point of their day- the happy, fun, exciting moment they had.)
The kids will then ask me and ask my husband, and we will share ours with them as well.
If we aren't going to be home for dinner because we are driving to basketball or baseball practice, I just ask them in the car.
It is an easy way for me to connect with them each day away from the "Did you do your homework?" or "Did you brush your teeth?" and the age-old "How was your day?".
Our teachers and staff also make an intentional effort to build relationships with each child. They each have their own way of finding out things that students like, determining what "zone" our students are in, learning cool-down or supportive strategies that are specific to each child's needs, and connecting with each of their students. Our entire staff believes in building relationships with students to develop their creativity, confidence, kindness and courage, as well as growing the students academically!
Relationships is a big piece of what makes EES such a wonderful place. The staff develops strong relationships with each other, and with our students. We are so blessed to call your family a part of our EES family.
Let's have a great week together!
