Who, What, When, Where, How???

On July 20, 1969, after stepping off of the Apollo 11, Neil Armstrong said a statement that will give pride and inspire pop-culture for generations to come; "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." He was referring to the huge accomplishment he himself and the rest of mankind had just made sending a spaceship carrying human astronauts to become the first men to step on another planetary body, the moon. This project was run by the United State's space program NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration).

Perspective 1

The perspective of the general American public in 1969 is still the same perspective of the general public in 2016; which is that the Apollo Moon Landing was a huge accomplishment and success for not only the United States of America, but all mankind across the globe. It was another show of the United States of America's power.

Perspective 2

There has been many conspiracy theories rise up, which contests the views of the general public, since the day Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. The most famous theory is that the moon landing was staged and faked by NASA in a movie studio. The reason the United States would have staged the Apollo 11 landing would be because of the Cold War. We, as a nation, wanted to show our dominance over Russia in the skies. And what would be a better show of dominance than to be the first nation to send man to the moon. So our government definitely had motive to stage the landings. Now the evidence shown isn't super one-sided. For every piece of evidence to prove that it was fake, NASA came back with a scientific reasoning behind it.

Bias Explained

I don't really have a bias one way or the other. I would love to say that America was the first to ever reach the moon, but I also see the motives and evidence behind the Apollo Moon Landing being faked. I am torn, but I feel as though I have to follow NASA's word that Apollo 11 did in fact land on the moon. And I will continue to do so until it is proven 100% otherwise.

Historical Criticism

Because of the Apollo missions, the US would probably be a different country. We showed our power and advancements in technology to be the first to get to the moon. And this came at the height of the Cold War. If Russia made it to the moon before the United States, we might not be standing here today.

The Apollo missions also left an iconic trail behind them. One of the most famous statements of all time "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Which is used in many commercials for advancements in the technology in a product. And who hasn't heard of Neil Armstrong? Plus, because of these missions' successes and popularity, still if you ask any kid, most likely they will say that they want to grow up to become an astronaut.

Marxist Criticism

The United States grew in power, while the USSR lost power, after the Apollo Landings. This is because of the Space Race. We thought that the first to the moon would have the technology to be able to win any war from the skies. Because of Neil Armstrong and NASA landing on the moon first, the US achieved this status of being the most advanced,
