Weekly Highlights

  • GRADES 3-5 there will be a visitor during your MATH Period Monday 9/28... Please follow this schedule to teach math: 3rd Grade 10:40am / 4th Grade 9:50am & 401A / 5th Grade 11:35 am & 402
  • ALL Classroom Teachers MUST have their OWN DAILY lesson plans for ALL Content areas: Math, ELA, Guided Reading, 2nd Math Block, Science, Social Studies.
  • ALL enrichment teachers MUST have lesson plans for each class they service. All other support staff MUST have lesson plans for students they service. This is part of Danielson Standard 1e- Designing Coherent Instruction
  • BASELINE MOSL ASSESSMENTS ADMINISTERED 9.28- 10. 9---- MEMO WILL BE DISCUSSED AT MONDAYS PD
  • Bulletin Boards (Inside and Outside) Due 10/1---- Outside--- HIV Curriculum --- Include Task/ Rubric/ Student Comments--- Inside--- Writing Baseline, Math, Science, Social Studies- 911, Principal Book of the Month, Current Events, Book Reports


This years instructional focus:

1. Guided Instruction in ELA and Math 2. Analyze Data to Drive Instruction

3. Incorporate technology in instruction


Announcements/Reminders:

  • September Parent Communication Letter SHOULD HAVE been turned in to Ms. Diaz and sent out to parents.
  • Make sure to check Grade Level Year Scope and Sequence Pacing for beginning/end dates of Units
  • Continue to keep an agenda and minutes of grade level meetings. These must be kept in Grade Binder.
  • Please continue baseline assessments. DRA's are due Oct. 9 to Ms.Otto
  • Please be mindful we are co-located. Let's be peaceful, pleasant partners in educating the Soundview Community
  • Lunch: K-1: 10:40 a.m / 2-3: 12:25pm / 4-5: 1:20pm
  • Morning line up @ 8:00 a.m. --- K in the Auditorium 1-5: Little Yard
  • End of day dismissal @ 2:10 p.m. for Grades 1-5 is outside in the little yard. K is in the Auditorium. For students safety we must continue to supervise dismissal.
  • September Bulletin Boards Due Inside classroom and outside --- by COB 10/1/15.


Monday 9/28

Tuesday 9/29

  • MOSL ELA Assessments Begin today (see MEMO for changes)
  • Make sure you have lesson plans for all content areas/ classes you will teach today!
  • Continue DRA assessments. Due Friday 10/9
  • 9am---Continue Guided Reading Block Routines (Independent Reading Routine/ Word Work Routine/ Vocabulary Routine)--- You May complete your DRA's as student practice routines
  • Dismissal @ 2:10 pm Kindergarten: Auditorium / Grades 1-5 in the little yard
  • Tuesday Parent Engagement 2:20pm - 3:00pm: As a team create a proposal of a parent workshop your grade/team would like to host for parents as follows: Week of 10/6: Grade 3---- Week of 10/13--- Grade 4 ---- Week of 10/20--- Grade 5 Week of 10/27--- Grade K ---- Week of 11/3 Grade 1---- Week of 11/10 Grade 2---- Week of 11/17--- Enrichment Teachers ---- Week of 11/24 --- Enrichment Teachers --- Submit the proposal to Ms. Najera by close of day 9/29.
  • Tuesday Grade Level Inquiry 3:00pm - 3:35pm: Analyze Baseline Writing Assessments. Complete student work analysis protocol


Wednesday 9/30

Ongoing Reminders:


  • Book Baggies: Please make sure you send last years book baggies to the next grade. 1st Grade- Yellow/ 2nd Grade- Orange/ 3rd Grade- Green/ 4th Grade- Blue/ 5th Grade- Purple. PLEASE DISTRIBUTE BOOK BAGGIES TO YOUR STUDENTS AND HAVE THEM SHOP FOR JUST RIGHT BOOKS. MORE BOOK BAGGIES WILL BE PROVIDED SOON.
  • As you greet our rockets this week please remember to greet our learners with kindness, organized, colorful, learning environments and with honest preparation for becoming literate, mathematicians, scientists, historians, critical thinkers willing and able to solve world problems, in other words PLAN, meaningful, productive interactive, and engaging lessons
