March 16th-20th Information
This week, March 16-20, no new assignment grades will be taken. Please check grades in ECHO and expect an email from their teacher if your student is failing so they can have the opportunity to submit late/redo assignments. You are welcome to proactively reach out to the teacher if you have concerns or have not heard anything. All late/redo assignments will be due by midnight on Friday, March 20 for consideration in this grading period. The 3rd 9 weeks ends Tuesday, March 24th. Grades will be posted by Friday, March 27th in the parent portal and report cards will be mailed the following week.
For this week, we are asking students to work in various online learning platforms in their core subjects as a review. Click here for suggestions for learning this week. Also, check ECHO specifically for AP classes as they have current assignments that need to be completed. Any students currently enrolled in dual-credit classes with Collin College need to check that website and Cougar Web for instructions for their classes and how classes are being handled.
We understand that every family may not have access to the internet or have a connected device (such as a computer, tablet, Chromebook, smartphone, laptop) at home and are prepared to work with families for additional support to continue student education remotely. THIS FORM, which was sent yesterday in communication from the administration, should be completed by today, Tuesday, March 17, at 11:59 PM to request technology resources, so we can best support our students in need of these resources.
Technology pick-up will begin on Wednesday, March 18th at 1:00 pm. If at all possible please try to come in your child’s grade allotted time (if you have children in multiple grades, you can pick whichever time is most convenient for you):
5th - 1:00-1:30
6th - 1:30-2:00
7th - 2:00-2:30
8th - 2:30-3:00
Any remaining - 3:00-3:30
If additional pick up times will be arranged if needed.
**High School students should already have a device. Please click this link for pictures of devices and the chargers that go with them if you have to replace the charger for some reason.
Please have your student’s ID number and name ready (we will have a list if you do not know their ID number). Drive up to the southwest door (where students are normally dropped off in the mornings) and we will come out to you (drive thru style) so you can check out a Chromebook.
Note from 5th Grade Teachers: We have set aside a lot of hard-copy materials for your child to use while they are learning from home. These include textbooks from math, ELAR, and social studies as well as notebooks students have been using in those classes. While most of these resources are available to you online, we suggest you have these books with your child at home if at all possible.
Mrs. Delsol, Mrs. Weaver, and Mr. Straus will be on campus tomorrow starting at 1:00 to distribute these materials. You may come get them even if you are not picking up a Chromebook.
March 23rd - March 27th
Starting Monday, March 23rd, all in-person classes will continue to be suspended and replaced with virtual instruction and other alternative learning options. Educational staff are preparing for remote learning with students this week (3/17-3/20) and some have already started adding assignments.
It is important for the students to maintain a routine during this unsure time. We suggest that you create a schedule for your student to follow and have a few suggested schedules below:
6th-12th Grade Sample Schedule
** Feel free to adjust times/activities to fit your schedule at home. Make sure to have your child check in with teachers during their office hours for clarification on any assignments or just to say hi!
The minimum time that we ask students to spend on each class is listed below:
20-25 minutes per day for each core subject
10-15 minutes per day for electives
Please note that some assignments may/will take students longer to complete. Please check echo daily. Every class will have a daily check-in assignment that will be due by no later than 8:00pm for attendance/agency purposes.
Teachers will be available 9-3 via email daily and will keep daily office hours twice a day. During office hours, teachers will be available via Google Hangouts to answer questions live. Please see the schedule below. Teachers will include directions on how to contact them via Hangouts in ECHO. Mrs. Blaskowski, our counselor, is also going to be available for any emotional needs via Hangouts as well. Her hours are included in the link below.

Going Forward
All field trips, sports events, and on-campus activities will be suspended until further notice. We are working on adjusting meetings to virtual meetings (webinars, podcasts, etc.) so we can still get all the same information out to you.
Students who receive services in academic special programming will be contacted by their case managers on how services will be provided.
STAAR test and EOCs have been waived for the school year. Click here to read the statement from Governor Abbott.
Currently we are planning on the campus being closed through Friday, March 27th. We will be closely monitoring the situation and alert you should the closure be extended. Please see the district letter that was sent out, which is also posted on the health services updates page on our website.
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Your entire administrative team is here to help and available via email. Please feel free to call and leave voicemails that we will respond to as soon as we can. Thank you again for your partnership and support.
