Optimist of Weatherford- Thank you for your sponsorship!

Thank you to Weatherford Optimist Club members Debbie Braudaway, President, Mary Lou Curry, Secretary, and Robert and Marie Beckett for attending and always supporting our students. Special thanks to Optimist North Texas members Susan Bussey and Diane and Bob Clark for attending our competition.

Inspirational Guest Speaker, Kevin "Paka" Davis

Paka Davis blew us all away by sharing some inspirational words and telling his story of growing up with microtia and hearing loss in Hawaii. Paka is a senior at Texas Christian University. He has played football for the TCU Horned Frog Team. He is also a member of the TCU Horned Tones, an acapella choir. Thank you for your wonderful presentation, willingness to host this event and your incredible connection with all our students and staff.

2017 Winner of the State Optimist Competition, Tammy Wilson

This year's event was made even more special because the event was hosted by Emcee, Tammy Wilson. Tammy won the state level of the Optimist Competition in Lubbock in 2017. As a senior at WHS, it was wonderful for the students of the Brazos River RDSPD to see Tammy as she impressively emceed the entire event from introducing our guest speaker to awarding the final prizes! Thank you, Tammy Wilson!

Best Judging Team!!!!

The Brazos River RDSPD thanks four very distinguished ladies as they gave their heart in fairly judging this tough competition. The judges included: Anne Darr, ESC 11 Regional Consultant for D/HH Services, Janet Law, Retired Deaf Education Teacher (Time Keeper), Sammie Sheppard, Tarrant County College Sign Language Interpreting Program Coordinator, and Susie Tiggs, State Lead for D/HH Services for Texas.
