Owl of the Week
Even though we are apart, we are still recognizing success at OECHS! This week's Owl of the Week is Sarah S.! Sarah's nominating teacher said "Sarah is a joy to have in class. She comes everyday to learn and work hard. This past unit in APES she put so much work in and it played great dividends on her test."
Congratulations, Sarah!

OCS Student Counseling
It is hard to get away from the rapidly changing news about COVID-19 and the changes it continues to cause in our society. With schools currently closed for students, concern over this new virus has increased the number of questions children and families have. OCS school counselors and school social workers understand this and, during this challenging time, will be available for virtual counseling sessions to help our children cope with these questions. You can find more information and links to each school’s counseling services here: Student Counseling Services.

Students will be able to drop off a broken or malfunctioning district-issued laptop, have an IT Technician repair the device, and have it ready to be picked up within 24 hours.
District-issued student laptops requiring repair during the disrupted school schedule because of COVID-19 can be dropped off between 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the following locations:

OECHS Class Updates
English
English II Honors: We are reading a new work next week: Geothe's Faust. Expect materials to appear in your OneNote under the Unit 3 tab (they are already there) along with me reading the books to you. I will also try to find some audio books to post, but recognize the translation will be different.
Try to ask question in email so that our feed doesn't get overwhelmed with comments. If you have a question that you think the group can assist you with directly, feel free to post on here. Otherwise, please email me.
Discussion boards will continue next week. You will get a new post daily to respond to. There are no tests or essays due next week, so probably a little easier on you all next week.
Daily assignments for the upcoming week have been posted in English II Honors Team page.
English IV Honors: We are reading two new works next week: Spenser's "Faerie Queene" and Macbeth. Expect materials to appear in your OneNote under the Unit 3 tab (they are already there). I will find some audio books to post and they will appear shortly.

Math
Honors Math 3: Each day (except test days) there will be a daily lesson to watch and take notes on. Videos will be posted by 9am each day and students must respond with their name or an emoji to earn their daily participation grade. By responding students are acknowledging that they have watched and listened to the lesson. Students must respond within 24 hours to receive a 100% on their participation grade.
With that being said, if your student has a circumstance that prevents them from completing an assignment or taking a test at the assigned time they can reach out to me privately to make other arrangements. If at all possible, students should contact me before the assignment is due.
This upcoming week students will learn about triangle parts and triangle centers. Students have an IXL assignment due on Monday at 4:30pm from last Friday's lesson on parallelograms. They also have an additional IXL and Study Island assignment due this upcoming Friday by 4:30pm.
