Four places to go on your trip
1. Lake Victoria
Lake Victoria is the largest lake in Africa. It's a freshwater lake that contains many, many fish. The lake is located in Tanzania, and Uganda. The area in which this lake lies is heavily populated. Within 50 miles of the shores of Lake Victoria live several million people. These people depend on the lake. Lake Victoria supplies the people with fish to eat, or sell. Two rivers are connected to the lake. The White Nile and The Katonga River. The lake fills a shallow depression in the great plateau. This plateau stretches between the western and eastern rift valley.
2. Niger River
The Niger River is 2,600 miles long! This gives you plenty of places to stay on your vacation! The river rises on the Fouta Djallon plateau. It flows through Guinea, into the Mali Republic. Close by, the river flows and starts to bend near Timbuktu, Mali. It then flows into Nigeria. The Niger RIver empties out into a great delta into the Gulf of Guinea. This river is a major source of fish in Africa! The delta is characterized by swamps, lagoons, and navigable channels!
3. Congo River
The Congo, or Zaire River is made by the waters of Lualaba, the upper Congo River, and its tributary the Luvua River. The river flows for 2.720 miles through Zaire, into the Atlantic Ocean. In some of the river, The Congo is 4 to 10 miles wide. In these parts of the river, there are many islands and sandbars. The Congo River is Africa's largest potential source of hydroelectric power. This is because it has a constant flow of water. This river is one of the longest in the world! The Congo River reaches depths of 750 feet (230 meters)
4. Serengeti Plain
The plain is located in north central Tanzania. It extends 100 miles east and southeast from the southeastern shore of Lake Victoria. Altitudes reach from 3,000 to 6,000 feet. This plain contains some of the best grassland areas in central and east Africa. Serengeti National Park holds more than 500 species of animals. The refuge for the animals is located on the plain. The serengeti Plain spans 12,000 square miles. The name "serengeti" means 'endless plain" and holds many, animals. This region of Africa hosts the largest mammal migration in the world.
