5th Grade Newsletter

Hello!

A few reminders for y'all!

Next week will be a short week. Students have a half day on Thursday, and then are off for Break until January 4th!

There will still be content being taught Monday-Wednesday of next week.

Thursday will be our Second Quarter Award ceremony and class parties. You are welcome to come check them out early.

Let's Get Into the Holiday Spirit!

It's the best time of year (at least in our opinion)! To help get everyone into the spirit, we have some fun activities planned for our last 9 days of school before the break!

Friday, December 9: FamiLE Game Time- Students can bring their favorite non-electronic game to play with their friends!

Monday, December 12: A Winter-Themed STEM Activity

Tuesday, December 13: Winter-Themed Snack & a Movie

Wednesday, December 14: "Snow Day": Some fun indoor "snow" activities (students may not want to wear clothes they don't want to get shaving cream on, but it does wash out real easily!)

Thursday, December 15: Winter Party

Friday, December 16-Tuesday, January 3: Winter Break!

What We Will Be Learning This Week!

Math

We are stating our Financial Literacy unit. It is largely a review from previous years, however students are now expected to be able to balance a simple budget using their knowledge of all four operations with decimals.

Science

We are starting Unit 4 in which we will be exploring the forces that physically shape the Earth, as well as what happens to fossils in the ground.

ELAR

We are starting our unit on realistic fiction, we will be reading AND writing it.

Social Studies

The Revolution has ended and now we will be learning about how the Founding Fathers came together to set up our new nation!
