Kindergarten Valentine's Day Performance
Dear Parents,
On Thursday, February 13th, our Kindergarten students will be performing their Valentine program for our parents and community. Remember, this is also KES Family Night,
4:30–6:30 P.M. Your child has been working very hard in their music class to prepare an entertaining evening for you.
Please have your child dressed in Blue/Black jeans/leggings with a Red/Pink or White shirt.
Girls may also wear a dress in the same color scheme if desired. Please do not feel you must go out and purchase something for this event, as I am sure we all have something in our closets that would be appropriate to wear.
Please have your child dressed and in the music room by 6:15 P.M., as our show will begin promptly at 6:30 P.M.
If you have any questions please feel free to call either myself or your classroom teacher at 843-365-3777. Thank you for supporting your child ~ YOU ROCK!!!

TALKIN' TRASH Contest - EARN FREE TREAT(S) and R-CARDS
TALKIN' TRASH Contest - Earn COUPONS for PRIZES for the month of February!
Talkin’ Trash (TT) is a school recycling and waste diversion competition that encourages elementary schools to engage in waste reduction, recycling, composting, and waste management practices. Every month, the top three winning schools will receive a plaque, supplies for their school, a recycled content prize for each 4th grader, and a visit from the Talkin' Trash crew! The students will also get a chance to appear on television. This is a school-wide effort to collect as much recyclables as possible.
As a school incentive to ALL students, each student will receive a coupon for every 13 gallon bag filled with recyclables. These recyclables include the following items: plastic bottles or jugs and aluminum cans. At the end of the month, coupons will be drawn out of a bucket to win prizes. Please be sure to write the student's name along with his / her homeroom teacher's name on the bag.
Thanks in advance for your participation!

Mrs. Moore's Counselor Corner
February Life skill for the month- “cooperation”
Cooperation… is working together toward a common goal.
How to be a cooperative person
People who cooperate with each other have interesting and busy lives, get along well with others and are valued members of the community.
Why?
· They are good listeners.
· They use good manners.
· They are ready to sort out differences and compromise so that everyone gets something of what they want - a 'win/win' result.
· They take responsibility for their actions.
· They keep promises.
Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help your child this year!

Black History Month
February is Black History Month. Please talk to your children about African American Achievers. Use the internet with your children to look up information such as the Civil Rights Movement. Listen to recordings together by African American musicians such as jazz, blues, and reggae. Attend African American music and dance performances. Your child learns from you, so always speak respectfully of people from other races and backgrounds. Treat everyone with respect, and teach your child to do the same.
