Happy Chinese New Year!!!
Monday we will celebrate the start to the Chinese New Year. The Chinese celebrate the beginning of the new year based on the moon's phases. 2016 will be the Year of the Monkey. We will be creating traditional Chinese lanterns, fans, and pottery, learning about the Chinese Zodiac, and reading Chinese New Year folk tales. We are learning about China's geography and the building of the Great Wall. I am incorporating lessons about ancient China into our math, reading, social studies, and writing blocks. Plus, my students have taken charge of our doorway and hall decorations for Culture Fair. We cannot wait to show off all of our hard work!
China Research Projects (Culture Fair)
Students will bring home their China Research project packet in their binder Monday. Students are to choose a topic to research and will complete the majority of their research project in class. They will need to complete their final project presentation at home. Finished projects are due February 26th, just in time to be on display for our Culture Fair on March 3rd!
