Mill Creek Directory and Yearbook
Student school photos for purchase and for use in the yearbook will be taken prior to mid-December (we are still working out a date with the C&C photographer, as they are currently focusing on secondary schools for student ID purposes). There will likely be two dates to accommodate both hybrid groups. Families who are virtual at that time will be contacted by C&C (once we have dates set) and have the opportunity to visit C&C Studios to have their child's school photo taken. If you would prefer that your child's photo not be used for media purposes, please update this in the Parent Portal under "Media Use" and click "No-I do not consent to media use" (the default is "Yes-I consent to media use"). If you do not consent, you can enter a comment that you are still okay with your child's photos appearing in the yearbook, if you would like.

Happy Fall, Mill Creek!
These past few days have been some of the most fulfilling for me in quite some time! I knew I missed seeing students in person, but actually having them walk towards and into our school on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week was much more meaningful for me than I ever imagined. This is what school should look like! I am so proud of our Mill Creek staff and students. The former, primarily for their preparation, professionalism, dedication, and caring. The latter, primarily for their flexibility and enthusiasm and for the pure joy they have brought with them to Mill Creek. I have learned quickly these past few days that kids with face coverings are still kids. They are still energetic and loving and amazing - just with really cool/stylish masks or cool scientist-style face shields!
I also want to give a shout out to our virtual learners. They have remained as engaged and energetic as their traditional/hybrid peers. Their faces are lighting up our computer screens!
In the event you would like to review the Traditional/Hybrid Return to School Information and Tips PowerPoint I put out last week, I have kept the link in this newsletter (see just below).
Also, a few requests/reminders:
1. Please have students arrive at Mill Creek no earlier than 8:15 a.m. Staff supervision is not available prior to 8:15 a.m., and the current situation makes it difficult for us to gather students in the lobby. Thank you for your understanding!
2. It is a good idea to pack the following daily personal care items to come with students:
- Chap stick
- Small hand lotion
- Travel pack of Kleenex
- Extra mask
Thank you, Mill Creek Community, for one of the best few days in a very long time!
Mr. John C. Murtha
Assistant Principal
Temporary Communication Change
Unfortunately, due to a recent medical procedure and recovery from that procedure, I will be out of the office for a period of time (hopefully a short period of time). In my absence, if you have positive feedback, questions, or concerns for us, please reach out to Mr. John Murtha at jmurtha@cbsd.org, or you can call the main office at (267) 893-3600. I look forward to being back soon, and I wish you all a wonderful start to the school year!!!
