Children's Mental Health Awareness Week
Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week is May 5 -11, 2019
Fast Facts about Children’s Mental Health
- Mental health refers to a person’s overall emotional, behavioral and psychological well-being. It impacts how we think, feel, and act, including how a child:
1. Feels about himself/herself
2. Relates to other children and adults
3. Handles change, stress and other life situations
- 1 in 5 children may experience a mental, emotional or behavioral health problem before age 18. These problems affect children of all demographic groups, regardless of education, income, race or culture.
- Up 70% of school-aged children with a diagnosable mental illness do not receive treatment. Early intervention is the best way to prevent long-term or severe conditions into adulthood.
Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week is a great time to learn more about children’s mental health and to check out available resources to help ensure all children have the opportunity to be successful in school, at home, in the community, and in their future adult lives.

Lion Ledger (Principal Newsletter):
These newsletters are sent periodically throughout the school year and provide information related to the happenings within the school day, special event notifications, celebrations of student learning and general information. Newsletters are sent via FOF email with a link to the newsletter.
Teacher Newsletters:
Newsletters from grade level teams and individual teachers provide information about the essential curriculum, field trips, and ideas to support students at home. These communications may be received via FOF or teacher distribution lists.
Twitter:
Many staff and adminstration use Twitter to showcase the amazing things students and staff are doing at CMES. Consider following your child's teacher or administration on Twitter. Ask them for their Twitter handle.
