Holiday Food Baskets

Thank you for your generosity as we collect food for families in our area during this holiday season. Last year, thanks to your kindness we were able to assemble over 70 baskets that were delivered to Mill Creek families and families from neighboring schools. This year, our goal is to provide a basket for 86 families - over 100 children - in our area. This week, you will receive a request for a specific food item. Please return all donations to your child's teacher by Friday, December 12th.

In addition, Kathy Budniewski, our school nurse, will be collecting frozen turkeys. If you have earned a free turkey through a supermarket, please consider bringing in the turkey, and we will store it in our cafeteria freezers. If you have any other questions, please contact Ms. Budniewski at

Thank you for your generosity!

Thank you Mrs. Michener and Welcome Mrs. Ordile!

After many years of service to Mill Creek Elementary School and the students of Central Bucks School District, Mrs. Michener, our PEN Teacher, announced her retirement this winter. She has been instrumental in providing and extending student learning. While we are saddened to see Mrs. Michener leave, we are delighted that she will begin this new chapter in her life. On behalf of the staff, students and parents, Mrs. Michener - we wish you well!!

In mid-December we will be welcoming, Mrs. Ordile. Over the last few years, Mrs. Ordile taught 6th grade in Virginia. While there, she was the Grade Team Leader, Science Lead Teacher and a member of the STEM Committee. Mrs. Ordile also led several teacher workshops on topics that targeted critical thinking skills and rigor in the classroom. We are looking forward to welcoming her to Mill Creek Elementary School!

Indoor and Outdoor Recess

With the approaching cold weather, there may be a need to keep students indoors during their scheduled recess times. Our goal is allow children the opportunity to play outside whenever the weather conditions permit. The primary tool for making this decision is the wind-chill factor. Generally, we remain outside for the full recess period provided the wind-chill is above 15 degress. A wind-chill between 10 to 15 degrees will result in an abbreviated outdoor recess. Rain, snow, or wind chills below 10 degress will keep us indoors.

We are on a roll... our first marking period School Spirit Pep Rally!

Pick-up at Dismissal

Often parents pick up their children during the day for an obligation, such as a doctor's appointment and the like. We ask that if you are going to pick up your child for an appointment, please do so before 3:00. Between 3:00PM and 3:15PM, students are gathering belongings, copying homework assignments, listening to classroom announcements and other end-of-the-day procedures. With these responsibilites, it can be challenging for students to come down to the office during this 15 minute window. Thank you!

Book Dedications

Are you looking for a special way to honor your child's teacher for the holidays? Then you may want to consider a book dedication to the Mill Creek Elementary School library. The cost is $15 per book. A personalized book label will be placed in the book and the person to whom the book is dedicated will enjoy being the first one to check it out of the library. All dedications will be announced on the morning announcements. If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Hiriak at extension 3605. For the dedication form, click here.
