Grade 7 Graphic Design Students Take Inspiration from Kindah Khalidy

After learning about the importance of celebrating Women's History Month, students were tasked with creating a data self-portrait inspired by the famous, contemporary, female artist, Kindah Khalidy.

A data self-portrait is an artwork that depicts data accumulated about a person - rather than using a face face as seen in most self-portraits. We use symbols, shapes, and colors to provide the viewer with information about a person!

Students were given prompts based on social and emotional well-being and had to create an abstract work of art filled with lines, shapes, colors, and symbols. Every mark made on their design represented a piece of information about themselves.

Stay tuned to hear which artist takes the "W!"
