Thoughts from Dr. Pacatte
Gurnee School District 56 recently participated in Respect Week, which is affiliated with Special Olympics of Illinois. This week highlights and supports the inclusion of people with disabilities. In addition to special days to draw attention to the cause, like Dress in Green Day, students spent time developing the understanding of many disabling conditions including epilepsy, cerebral palsy, speech and language disorders, Autism, and vision and hearing disorders. All of our schools have the privilege of serving students with these and other disabilities that create challenges or differences in the way they learn and function on a daily basis. Every classroom in our district includes students with these unique differences. Helping our students to support and develop empathy for others is just one way to make our world a better place for all!
Bus and Van Drivers Needed!!
If you are looking for a part time job, please consider helping us to transport our students to and from school. In addition to the bus drivers you see everyday, our van drivers help our students travel to schools throughout the county that help to support their individual needs.
