Principal's Message
Our Back to School Night was a huge success! Open parent/school communication is so important for our students to succeed. Know that we value your participation and input, which is needed even more during these times. Please remember that you can reach out to any of us with a concern.
This is the last push to the end of the quarter which closes on Friday, November 13. I would encourage you all to remind your students to finalize any outstanding work or projects. Remember to check the parent portal and contact your child's teachers directly if there's a question with any grades or assignments. Report cards will be published on Friday, November 20 at 3:00 PM.
School is closed on Wednesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. To honor our veterans Grade 8 student Aidan Weber is spearheading a fundraiser for the Wounded Warriors Project. This organization supports veterans suffering from physical injuries and PTSD. Aidan created a video (please see below) to highlight the work of this worthwhile organization and we hope that you will consider contributing.

Important Health Updates from Nurse Welchman
Friday 11/6/20
Good Morning KMS Community,
I want to start off by saying thank you to all parents and staff for keeping me updated on COVID 19 related information (symptoms, testing, quarantine) daily so that I can provide guidance and keep us all safe. Whether in person or virtual this data is helping us with surveillance and assess for any outbreaks. Masks, distance, ventilation, hand washing and increased cleaning are keeping students and staff protected.
It has come to our attention in the district and state that too many times individuals going for COVID-19 testing are having difficulty obtaining test results on Dominion Diagnostics website because the patient's name or date of birth is incorrect.
This makes it impossible to obtain results yourself and requires individuals to contact the RI Department of Health (RIDOH) to get results. As a result, it is taking much longer to obtain results as RIDOH is inundated with calls. Staff and students are missing work/school and are frustrated.
It is our recommendation to help reduce human error, to show your driver's license for adults and for students and/or adults getting tested PRINT clearly in bold letters on an index card or piece of paper: First and Last name and Date of Birth and display for the intake person at testing sites. They will not be able to take cards or paper from you due to safety precautions put in place. This will hopefully help with miss spelled names and incorrect dates of birth.
When calling to set up a testing appointment make sure they repeat back the correct spelling of the name of the individual being tested and their date of birth.
Hope this helps staff and families avoid an unfortunate mistake.
Testing Hotline for K-12 staff and students is 844-857-1814.
Hours of Operation: 7:30 am - 9:30 pm seven days a week.
School Nurses NEED from you to return to school/work:
1. Rapid Test results for individuals with symptoms
2. PCR Test results for everyone that has been tested (symptomatic or asymptomatic)
3. After Illness Attestation Form completed: You attest that individuals that have been isolated or on quarantine are ready to return to school/work, are free of COVID 19 symptoms, if tested, test results have been sent to school nurse, have completed isolation or quarantine per RIDOH guidelines, are fever free x 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Erin Welchman M.Ed, BSN, RN, RICSNT
