It's Almost Time!

Hello All Star Families! I hope that each of you are still enjoying the summer and still making many memories! We are only a few weeks away from filling our classrooms once again with your children! This communication will be your "One Stop Shop" for all things to get ready for the school year. This SMORE will be separated into several cards that contain specific information. Utilize what you need, when you need it!

First Day of School!

Students return on Tuesday, August 30th! This day is a half day for elementary students!

School Hours

Kindergarten Through 6th Grade

School Start Time: 9:20am (Doors open for students at 9:10am)

School Dismissal Time: 4:10pm


*School Dismissal on Scheduled HALF DAYS: 12:24pm

School Age Childcare

We are currently looking for ONE person to run the morning program here at Beacon Tree Elementary! We have coverage Tuesdays through Fridays, but just need coverage for Mondays! If you are interested/able, please contact us here at the building and we will get you in touch with Community Education.

Classroom Assignments and Bus Stop Information

Bus stop information will be emailed to eligible families on Wednesday, August 24th


Classroom assignments will be emailed to families on Thursday, August 25th after 3:00pm. If you do not receive your child's information, please contact our office for assistance.


*Please know that any request made, are just that - requests. We cannot guarantee any placement of students. Teachers take a lot of time to place students in classrooms for the upcoming year. They look at several characteristics when it comes to placement. Moving classrooms is extremely rare, and usually cannot happen due to classroom numbers. Thank you for your understanding.

Student Entry/Exit Locations

Please have your child utilize the following doors to enter the building. These doors will also be the same doors they utilize for dismissal.


Door 10 (Far North End of the Building): Kindergarten and 1st Grade Students

Door 1(Main Door): 2nd and 3rd Grade Students

Door 2 (Left of the Flag Pole): 4th and 5th Grade Students

Door 3 (Far South End of the Building: 6th Grade Students


*Our school day begins at 9:20am. If you arrive after 9:20am, please utilize the Main Entrance (Door 1). All exterior doors close at 9:20am.

Parking Lot

Please utilize the parking spaces in our lot if you are going to be walking your child to (or from) the building. The center portion of our lot is for student drop off. If you are utilizing this section of the lot, please have your child exit your car on the sidewalk side of the lane if possible. Once your child has exited the car, please begin to pull forward so that other parents may do the same. All parents and students are expected to utilize crosswalks when crossing the bus lane.

PowerSchool Information

PowerSchool To Do List

Every parent must update their PowerSchool Portal. You can access the PowerSchool sign in page by clicking HERE.


Directions to update PowerSchool are found by clicking HERE.


Now that forms are all digitized, you will have to take care of some forms that are found within PowerSchool. Please utilize the directions below to help you complete this task.



POWERSCHOOL DIRECTIONS

Once in Power School, please look to the left side of the screen under Navigation and find FORMS.


Once you click on FORMS, you will be taken to a new screen where you will have multiple tabs to select. You will need to be in the GENERAL FORMS tab. Please read and review all forms that are necessary for completion. Student Address, Legal Guardians, Emergency Contacts, and Health Information are needed ONLY IF THERE ARE CHANGES FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR.


Once all changes are made, click on REQUIRED TO COMPLETE EACH YEAR (located at the bottom of the Annual Update section)


All parents are to complete the following forms:


  1. Annual Emergency Data Verification
  2. Parent-Student Handbook Acknowledgement: This has 3 parts. Parents acknowledge that they have read and reviewed the linked handbook with their child/children. Both parent and student consent to the use of electronic signatures
  3. Technology Device Use Agreement

PaySchools Link

To pay for Technology Insurance, please utilize PaySchools for the transaction. You must pay for insurance before Thursday, September 8th, 2022.

School Breakfast/Lunch

The USDA sponsored pandemic-related free school meal program has ended. During this school year, all families will be responsible for the full price of school meals unless they have applied (and been approved) for free or reduced priced meals. To apply for these accommodations, please click HERE. If you do not have an account within the Family Portal, you will have to create one. Please know that if you had an approved application from last year, it expires on October 13, 2022. For families who are just looking to deposit funds into an account for breakfast and lunch, please click HERE.

Health Forms

If your child requires specific medical attention due to a condition, you will need to fill out specific forms for Beacon Tree Elementary to be able to administer care. Health Care Plans and Authorization for Medication forms are available HERE. The forms can be found by scrolling down the page. Two transportation forms are required for every student who rids the bus with a COLOR picture attached to each form. Depending on your child's diagnosis, the following forms are required by Beacon Tree Elementary:


  1. Food Allergies/Insect Allergies/Latex Allergies: FARE Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan, Michigan Department of Education Medical Statement to Request Special Meals and/or Accommodations, 2 Authorization for Medications (one for an antihistamine and one for Epinephrine, 2 Transportation Forms (if your child rides the bus)
  2. MDE Dietary Accommodations: Required for Food Services for students with Food Allergies
  3. Asthma: Asthma Health Care Plan, Authorization for Medication for a rescue inhaler, 2 Transportation Forms (if your child rides the bus)
  4. Seizure: Seizure Health Care Plan, Authorization for Medication for rescue medications and//or other medications, 2 Transportation Forms (if your child rides the bus)
  5. Diabetes: Diabetes Health Care Plan, 2 Transportation Forms (if your child rides the bus), and you must submit your Diabetes Medical Management Plan from your Endocrinologist
  6. Heart Condition: Heart Condition Health Care Plan and 2 Transportation Forms (if your child rides the bus)
  7. Any Other Diagnosis: General Health Care Plan, Authorization for Medication (if needed), 2 Transportation Forms (if your child rides the bus)
