Lincoln Bulletin-updates
In the next few weeks, students across Lincoln will be focusing on building learning characteristics and a strong classroom and school community. This will come through our daily morning meetings and weekly second steps lessons that are being taught at all classrooms. This week I was in Mrs. Haegele's class and Ms. Estabrook's to read a book aloud. I enjoy participating in classrooms and love supporting our community building. Wednesday, our ice cream social sponsored by our PTO was one of our first schoolwide community builders. As a PTO, we met today to talk about other events and special occasions we can organize to continue this strong community throughout the year.
What an amazing turnout at our PTO-sponsored Ice Cream Social, it was wonderful to see families return together and enjoy a late summer night. We also enjoyed seeing many alumni, older brothers, and sisters return and say hello to our staff, thank you. The PTO provided delicious treats and water for all. Photos included of the great event to kick off our year!
The beginning of the school year historically brings opportunities for families to see where their children spend their days, meet the teachers, and get to know other parents and guardians. As we began the 2021-2022 school year, we were hopeful that our schools would be full of happy and excited parents on Back to School and Curriculum Nights. On August 17, it quickly became apparent to our administrative team that, based on Kane and DuPage Counties moving into the “high community transmission” category for COVID-19 cases, the best option was to hold virtual events for all our schools.
Throughout the pandemic, we have seen changes in transmission rates in our community, including decreases. We look forward to the time when we can once again welcome families, our most important partners, into the schools. Your continued patience and understanding is greatly appreciated
The building teachers and all staff are creating videos to introduce themselves, share curriculum, classroom routines, and their related services for our Lincoln students. We also will provide you with a link for questions and feedback, please take the time to view these videos to gain insight on the coming year and if you have follow up questions please put them into the google form and we will happily follow up with you.
Enjoy your weekend!

LOST AND FOUND
Bus/Transportation Home/Pick up
Thank you very much for your patience in working out our after-school bussing. We are implementing a staggered dismissal and roll call before students enter the bus, to ensure we have all students on the bus before it leaves Lincoln. This is taking some time at the beginning of the year. Ms. Kappele and Mrs. Fick are doing an excellent job working out the most efficient system for dismissal. The first few weeks are an adjustment time for drivers, kids, and school personnel our top priority is to keep all kids safe.
Thank you also for continuing to communicate any changes in after-school transportation through a letter in the morning to the teacher, and our office staff. Please include the office, Debra.fick@d303.org when changing dismissal procedures.
Also, when walking please leave your pets at home, Dogs are not permitted on school grounds during school hours 7:30-3:45 on school days.
D303 Parent University
D303 Parent University
Parent University was developed in response to the need for programming to address the social and emotional needs of students in District 303. We continue to strive to provide information on topics that are relevant, timely, and beneficial for all parents and guardians.
District 303 regards parent engagement as fundamental to the success of our students both inside and outside of the classroom. Parent University is designed to create partnerships between school and home and provide a place where parents and staff members can learn together.
Based on information gathered from parent surveys and the work on the Parent University Committee, the district designs and offers programming that is timely, meaningful, and easily accessible. Over the last several years, we have heard parents when they have requested programs that can be consumed on their schedule such as videos, webinars that are also available after the meeting, and voiced presentations. At the same time, we will also continue to host in-person programming.
If you have ideas about programming, please contact Carol Smith at carol.smith@d303.org or Cindy Ruesch at cindy.ruesch@d303.org.
