LAKE WORTH HIGH SCHOOL
Weekly Memo 1/9/2017
MISSION
We will lead all students to be productive citizens.
VISION
Lake Worth High School provides a customized learning experience that values individual growth and achievement.
GOALS
1. During the 2016-2017 school year, LWHS will increase the amount of time students are reading and/or writing in all core classes every day and in all elective courses at least once per week by reviewing walk-through data, student assessments, and student artifacts in PLCs.
2. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year, 70% of staff will rate school climate and culture questions as favorable (agree and strongly agree) on the annual staff survey.
3. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year, 20% of students will have participated in non-traditional modes of learning that include blended and virtual coursework by evaluating end-of-year course data.
INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK
- Mr. Hebert is monitoring our contacts (engagement) with the community. You received an email last week. If you did not respond and have had contact with parents and the community, please send me a note.
- Monday is the Foundation's monthly Jeans day. Enjoy if you contributed at the beginning of the year.
- Student surveys will be completed on Wednesday of this week. So that you do not have to mess with it in each class period, students will complete the surveys using their own devices or devices you have in you may have in your classroom during advisory.
- The Leadership Team will meet at our normal time, 7:45 am, on Wednesday. Please don't forget your reading assignment.
- Thanks to those of you that are contributing to the "Shout Out" board. It is great to hear about your colleagues and what's happening here at LWHS!
- Please continue to look a the calendar each week. I will only include items in this memo that I think are unique, that you need pay special attention to, or are for some reason not on the calendar.
Leadership Meeting Notes and Reminders
- The Counselors began with an overview of the "LWHS Showcase" on Wednesday, February 1st. All teachers are expected to attend. We will be set up in the commons area, cafeteria, and maybe the gym. More details to come.
- We are looking at schedules and staffing for next year. Department chairs shared their requests and plans with the leadership team. We meet with district administration next week.
- Only students with a trust pass should be using the snack machines during the class period- and that is also with teacher permission.
- Please do not allow students out of class unless it is an emergency. If a student with a trust pass needs out of class, that does not mean you have to let them go if they ask- it is always your discretion.
- Lesson plans and grades are due on Monday each week. Love you all, but we will be having one-on-one conversations in an effort to help those having difficulty. If you have a question about these expectations please ask.
