DISTRICT-WIDE BAND CONCERT
The Lineville Bands will perform at the District-Wide Band Concert on Thursday, March 30th at 7:00 pm in the Bay Port Gym. Bands from Lineville, Bay View, and Bay Port will be featured at this exciting, fast-paced show! Here are the details:
Students should be dropped off at the Bay Port Gym entrance by 6:40 pm. You can then park and enter the Bay Port gym to get a seat in the bleachers. Parking will be challenging, so plan for extra time!
Lineville students must wear their blue band shirts.
Students must bring their instruments, folding music stands and iPads to the concert. Make sure they are labeled with names!
Baritone, Tuba, and Percussion students must bring their instruments from home to Bay Port for the concert and then home again afterward.
The bands have been working hard to prepare this special night of music. The concert should be exciting for all involved!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for a successful Food Drive! Together, Lineville Intermediate students collected over 2,000 food items for the Giving Tree Pantry! LEADER IN ME
Last month in the L.I.M video we showcased Habit 4. This month's video showcases Habit 3 “Put First Things First.” In the video you will see that the 2 girls are doing their math homework like they’re supposed to, while the 2 boys are playing non-school related games on their iPads. One of the boys realizes that he is making a mistake by not doing his math homework first. The other boy continues to not put first things first by playing the game. One boy does the right thing, but the other does not. The boy who didn’t put first things first had consequences and the other was rewarded for doing what was expected.. So in conclusion, always remember to put your “big rocks” (priorities) first. The fun stuff can come later!

Love Yourself this Month!
Welcome to February's edition of our newsletter. We made it through January and are in for a bitter"sweet" February. Don't forget during the month of February to send yourself the same love you'd send to your Valentine. It's never selfish to give yourself grace and love too.

LINEVILLE LITERACY LOUNGE NEWS
Are you looking for reading activities to use with your reader at home?
Start a Book Club: Form a book club with family members, your child’s friends and their parents, or just the two of you. Select a book together and establish small reading assignments, (for example one or two chapters at a time). Choose a specific “meeting” time, and place such as a weekly trip to a park (during the warmer months) or just chat at home over zoom, discussing the book. Be sure to focus on talking about your ideas and themes in the book, using examples from the book. After you finish one book, pick another book by the same author, about a similar topic or in the same genre and compare them.
Compare Perspectives: Read about an event you and your child attended, or write your own accounts of an event you shared. Read the two pieces and then compare the differences between them and the perspectives from which they were written.
Read and Research: Help your child come up with a question about a topic of interest. Then work together to read a variety of sources to find the answer.
Vary your Reading: Read different genres of texts with your child. For example, pick a poem or play and read it together and talk about the ideas, perspectives and themes of it. Read two poems about one topic and compare them.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Katie Williams at katiwill@hssdschools.org or Sherry McCarthy at shermcca@hssdschools.org
