on the school year so far

Greetings from Tokyo International Progressive School

Dear Parent Community of TIPS,

Hello, and I hope you and your families are well.

If you are interested in visiting the Expat Expo on November 5 or 6, please register as a free guest here:

Depending on when you visit our booth, you may find Junko Nakamura, Brock Spore or myself promoting our school.

We will be photographed by Kerry Raftis of KeyShots again this year. Our photo day will be Friday, November 19. You may read more about suggestions on how to look our best below. Grade 12 students will be photographed in street clothes, cap and gown and a tuxedo or drape.

We are cautiously optimistic that our International Day of December 17 will return to its normal, pre-pandemic form. If so, we will invite parents to join the feast that you provide. Students will be asked to bring a dish to share that represents their own country for lunch.

Thanks for reading. Any questions, please ask!

The PSA really outdid themselves at the Hallowe'en festivities on October 29. The bake sale was well attended and we thank all the parents who contributed their time and talents to the sale. It was a pleasure to have the parents in the building around noon.

Our next PSA meeting will be Wednesday, November 3. You have the option of attending in person or online. Mr. Jason Wan will represent the staff that day, and he will be presenting my report.

We hope you will attend a PSA mixer in the school Common Room on the evening of Friday, November 26. If you don't mind bringing something to share to eat or drink, we appreciate that. The teachers will be in attendance 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The aim is to get to know each other better in a relaxed setting.

On October 20, 2021, TIPS students and teachers enjoyed a cool afternoon by the Futako Tamagawa river partaking in activities such as water gun fights, soccer, and bocce ball. Along with that, students and teachers munched on scrumptious burgers and hot dogs made by student council members. The picnic was also a very important day as a student by the name of Maya Farag departed from the school, as she is transferring schools. From the student council, we wish Maya all the best in life.
