Star Spotlight ✨
To allow our Centennial families to get to know more about the achievements of Star students, we will be highlighting a different student in our weekly newsletters. They will have an opportunity to share some fun facts about themselves as well as convey of their most recent accomplishments.
Do you know of a student who deserves a spotlight? Send an email to our Family Ambassador, Aneeka Bashir abashir@columbus.k12.oh.us, with their name and grade so they can be featured in an upcoming newsletter!
Sativa McConnell
This week, we will be meeting Sativa McConnell. She is a junior at Centennial who exhibits a contagious positivity that lights up the room! Whether excelling in academics, contributing to the theater program, or embodying leadership qualities in the Student Government Association, Sativa has truly stood out among their peers. Thank you, Sativa, on being an inspiring role model for us all!
Q: What's your favorite high school memory, and why does it stand out to you?
A: My favorite high school experience would definitely be one of the nights of our production of Beauty and the Beast when our curtain broke because it was so unexpected and funny! Everyone in the audience got to see what we go through back stage but this time on stage.
Q: What sports do you participate in, and how did you become involved in them?
A: I do Cross country and Cheer for the school. I started cross country my freshmen year just to meet new people but I started cheer during my junior year because my sister and I wanted to do something together.
Q: What clubs, organizations, or extracurricular activities are you involved in, and why?
A: I have done theater since my freshman year and have grown through out the entire time. I really joined because a lot of my friends were doing it and it seemed fun. I didn’t realize that I would be investing so much of my time into it but it has been really fun so far.
Q: Are there any teachers or subjects that have had a significant impact on your academic journey?
A: I would definitely say Ms. Ballog has had a big impact on my academic journey because she is one person that has really told me up front what I need to do to get through my high school career.
Q: What are your future academic or career aspirations?
A: My future career aspiration is to become a tattoo artist and do an apprenticeship somewhere in Columbus.
Q: If you could choose one word to describe your high school experience so far, what would it be and why?
A: I would have to say “comfortable” because all the staff have made the high school experience so laid back and fun while making sure we all get our education. I don’t think I would be wanting to come to school everyday if it wasn’t for everyone in the building.
