Each senior should purchase a cap and gown for the ceremony. The decisions about purchasing graduation announcements and other souvenirs are up to the kids and their families.
Eligibility for After school Events
We have a new policy this year for students who want to attend after-school events. Students will lose the privilege of attending events (athletic contests, dances, club meetings, etc.) if they:
· Have more than four unexcused absences during the current trimester.
· Are deemed accountable for serious disciplinary violations (including but not limited to drugs, alcohol, tobacco or vapes, fights, harassment).
· Are failing more than two classes. We check grades every week for this, and the first check for second trimester will be on December 12. Students ineligible because of grades can earn the privilege back by improving their grades by the next weekly grade check.
Please note that the Athletic Department has its own policies for participation in athletic programs.
Athletic Eligibility and Study Table
Study Table –Athletes having a grade of D or less must complete 80 minutes the following Monday – Thursday. If not completed by the end of the day on Thursday the athlete will be ineligible for the next event. If an athlete is failing more than one class, that athlete will then be ineligible for competition from Monday through Sunday of the next week.
Study table times: The athlete must check in when they arrive!
Media Center –Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 7:00-7:40 am.
Wednesday from 7:15-9:10 am. They may also do lunch periods, but no food is allowed in the media center so they must eat and then go to Media Center for study table.
Visitor Policy
OHS students are allowed to have a guest accompany them to school or for lunch under the following guidelines:
1- The guest is a high school student.
2- The guest’s school is not in session that day.
3- The OHS student gets permission from administration before the visit.
4- The visitor is allowed to visit one time during the school year.
We will make exceptions for unique circumstances, such as a high school graduate or family member who wants to visit an OHS student for lunch on a birthday, and the discretion to grant permission is up to the OHS administration.
