DCAGT Hosting Parent Coffees
The Douglas County Affiliate of the Colorado Association for Gifted & Talented (www.DCAGT.org) is hosting three morning coffees for parents of Gifted and high potential students in grades K-12. These are informal sessions designed for parents to network and ask questions. Natasha Straayer, Coordinator of Gifted Education for the Douglas County School District, will be present. Additionally, two parents with gifted children will facilitate the group discussions. Please email questions to Barb Cousins, parent, at b.cousins@comcast.net. No need to register. Watch for additional opportunities to participate with DCAGT in the Fall.

Franktown Dumpster Divas Nominated to Participate in White House Makers Faire!
The Franktown, Dumpster Divas, who won the prestigious Da Vinci Award at the State Destination Imagination(DI) Tournament, have been nominated by the State DI organization to participate in the 2014 White House Makers Faire! As a requirement of the application process, they created this video explaining their journey.
2013-2014 CAGT Distinguished Student Award
This awards program is designed to recognize distinguished achievement in academics, leadership, or the arts, in children ages 7 - 12. There are two awards: A Junior Division, ages 7-9 and a Senior Division, ages 10-12. One Colorado child from each division will be named as a CAGT Distinguished Student and the winners receives a $500 cash scholarship and a CAGT Certificate of Excellence.

International Group for Mathematical Creativity and Giftedness (MCG) Conference
The Institute for the Development of Gifted Education is excited to be hosting the 2014 International Group for Mathematical Creativity and Giftedness (MCG) Conference on the University of Denver's campus, July 28-30, 2014.
This conference is aimed at promoting mathematical creativity and giftedness in students of all ages and backgrounds, and in supporting interested mathematics educators, mathematicians, researchers and other individuals.
