Memorial Day 2020
End of Year Grades
All OECHS students received an email in their OCS student email accounts with their grade options. These choices determine their final high school transcript grades for the Spring of 2020.
As of right now 94 out of 104 Freshmen and Sophomores have filled out the form to designate their grade choices. Only 4 out of 52 Juniors have responded. On May 27th, we will finalize grades in PowerSchool. If you do not respond on the Form, we will automatically enter the recommended grade choice(s). At the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester, if students wish to revise their choices, they will have a brief window of opportunity. --Mr. Strope
Technology and Textbooks
Students can turn in textbooks, calculators, or any other school-owned materials in our workroom (CE108) on the following days/times:
- June 1st-June 4th (9:00-3:00)
- June 8th-June 11th (9:00-3:00)
Any CCCC computers that were borrowed will need to be returned to the college! Please contact Debbie Lucas (lucasd@coastalcarolina.edu) to schedule an appointment to return the laptop immediately. You will need to return the laptop to the Trades Building Room 112. You will need to bring both the laptop and the charger. The laptop will be inspected for external damages upon return.
Yearbooks
Yearbooks have arrived and are ready to be picked up at the school! Most orders did not include home shipping addresses, so TreeRing shipped the yearbooks to the school instead. If you would like to pick up your yearbook, come by the school (CE108) during the same days and times as student textbook collection and material drop-off (see article above):
- June 1st-June 4th (9:00-3:00)
- June 8th-June 11th (9:00-3:00)
ACT and SAT
As our own administration of the ACT has been rescheduled two times already, it may be a good idea for rising seniors to check out the opportunities this summer and fall to take the ACT and SAT college entrance exams on their own as well. Information for SAT and ACT can be found at:
https://www.act.org/content/act/en/covid19.html#student-parent
https://pages.collegeboard.org/sat-covid-19-updates
Our rising Juniors should start preparing for the Spring 2021 administration of the ACT. ACT Academy is a great place to start! All rising Juniors need to create an account at ACT Academy and begin prepping for the exam. It is never too early to prepare!
Checklists for Rising Seniors
https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm
Rising Seniors should also have a Common App login (as we reviewed how to create an account in seminar this past year). Go to Common App and start working on your college admission essay! This one application will work for hundreds of colleges!
Here are also a few checklists that will help keep us all on pace to graduate in May:
