WMS PTO News
We are excited to announce we have raised enough money to purchase a much needed additional Chromebook Cart for Woodcreek Middle School. This has been made possible by all the wonderful parents, teachers and staff which have contributed to our various fundraisers this school year. In addition to our fundraiser proceeds, we are donating money that was reserved for teacher appreciation week and the 8th grade dance which did not occur due to the school closures. These funds will be donated in their honor towards the Chromebook cart. We are thrilled to be able to contribute towards the school’s goal of adding additional technology to the school. The WMS Annual Fund raised enough to purchase 4 Chromebook Carts and with the PTO’s donation, we will be one step closer to the goal of adding 6 Chromebook Carts.
Finally we wanted to present our new WMS PTO Board for the 2020-2021 school year. Please join us in congratulating them!

Virtual Memory Book
Dear 8th grade Parents and Students,
Although we hate to say goodbye, the end of the school year is near. While WMS doors are closing, SCHS doors are wide open waiting for 9th grade to begin. We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every 8th grader for the memories, the warmth, and learning that we shared the last 3 years.
As we close this milestone school year, we would like to honor and recognize all 8th graders, but we need your help.
We would like to put together a google slide, virtual graduation/recognition for each student that includes pictures highlighting their journey to high school.
Through your child's science class, you and your child will be able to upload fun (appropriate) pictures and write about their time at Woodcreek. All slides are due by Friday, May 22. We will combine all slides and create one AMAZING Virtual Memory Book for our 8th graders to enjoy.
The Virtual Memory Book will be available on the WMS Webpage at the end of the year. Thank you for your help with this project.

Students will also have an interactive opportunity to explore The Dust Bowl.
8th Grade U.S. History - students will wrap up their Civil War Menu task with the Dessert portion. Students will be able to use multiple platforms, such as TikTok, cartoon storyboard, writing a poem and others to express their knowledge of the American Civil War while also showcasing their own talents and personality.
RELA News
7th Grade RELA - students will continue reviewing poetry using TPCASTT. Please continue to check Google Classroom. We will have Zoom meetings every Tuesday and Wednesday to provide mini-lessons for students. Stay healthy and safe.
8th Grade RELA - we will continue to explore our current unit of study: “Finding Your Path” and the essential question: “How do your teenage years prepare you for adulthood?” We will review academic vocabulary for argument and analyze the author’s claim and counterarguments in the persuasive text: “It’s Complicated: The Social Media Networked Lives of Teens.” Please continue to check Google Classroom for important announcements and assignments.
Math News
6th Grade: Students will be exploring personal finance and learning about budgeting, credit cards and debit cards.
7th Grade: Students will review solving equations one last time to get them 8th grade ready!
8th Grade: Students will continue studying personal finance. This will have several mini sessions covering topics such as loans (and interest), saving and investments.
Algebra: Students will learn more about exponential functions next week. These last new topics taught in our Algebra classes, Quadratics and Exponential functions, are so important as a foundation to high school math. If your student was unable to attend Zoom lessons or not able to complete all lessons we HIGHLY ENCOURAGE students still go into their Google Classrooms and review these topics before High School. IXL and Khan Academy are also accessible to them and are excellent online resources to ensure mastery of needed learning for future math courses coming their way.
